Good morning friends. The other day I was drooling over some of Melissa Phillips (PTI) cards, and she had a link to a new blog challenge called "Festive Fridays". Had to look and I'm glad I did as this sounds like a great challenge for me! It's basically getting a head start on your Christmas cards (since we're not all like Donna who has next year's cards already done!) by participating in this challenge and making a card(s) every couple weeks from now till Christmas. Here's the link to check it out: http://festivefriday.blogspot.com/ The challenge for this weeks card was to use red, white, & silver.
I LOVE making Christmas cards and this color challenge was right up my alley! Check out my card:
I chose to do a CAS card, because I didn't want to take away from the beauty of the snowflakes. I started with a Whisper White card base, added a layer of Cherry Cobbler (SU!) and then used SU!'s Northern Flurry embossing folder with another layer of Whisper White. For the sentiment, I used PTI's "Winter Hill's" stamp set and embossed it in silver. I finished by adding a few silver nailheads (Gina K) to the centers of the snowflakes, and then added a Cherry Cobbler seam binding ribbon to the side. Very quick and would be a great card to mass produce if needed. I love the simplicity of this card and also think it turned out quite elegant! And yahoo, I have a card to start my Christmas stash! :0)
Hope you'll take a look at all the other cards already posted...there are some real beauties! I think Meredith MacRitchie came up with a great idea in doing this challenge so we're not all stressed next December, wondering how we're ever going to get all our cards made in time...thank you, thank you Meredith!
That's all for today friends. For those of you in my neck of the woods, have fun digging out and drive safe if you do go out. Sounds like a good day to play in the stamping room to me! :0) Take care all!
