MIM#165 - Artsy Watercolor Backgrounds

Good morning friends.  Betsy from Papertrey Ink has a great video tutorial this week on making Artsy Watercolor Backgrounds, and of course I had to play along!  Betsy used the "Meadow Greens" stamp set for her card, and since I hadn't used that set in quite a while, I pulled mine out and used the fern leaf.  I've been trying to be braver about using colors that aren't natural (like leaves ALWAYS having to be green and flowers red!),  so I pulled out Hawaiian Shores and stamped away!

This was SO pretty just like it was, that I had to let it sit for a day before I added to it!  LOVE the softness this technique brings to the images!

Since I've been on a shaker card roll, and hadn't used my "Text Block Birthday Die" yet, I thought that would be a great next step.

I liked it, but yet I didn't!  Something was missing!  Even though I was trying for a monochromatic card, it really needed a "pop" of color!

Yep, just needed a flower (Rosie Posie - PTI)!  Much better now! :0)

Lots of time yet to play along over at Nichole's site , so check it out and learn from Betsy how to be "artsy"!!  I liked this technique so much I even made a Christmas card with it that I'll show you tomorrow! :0)

Thanks so much for stopping by today...I love it when you do! :0)

Know what you mean about stepping out from comfy green leave syndrome! Your blue ferns are perfect, and I love the fadeout of the watercolor. And since shakers are my favorite I especially love what you did! Fun pop of posie too!

Marcia, I am the same way, yet when others do leaves in aqua mist or kraft I always think it looks good, but some reason I struggle with using the abnormal colors! but your card is gorgeous...and you are so right about the rosie being needed...perfect touch! And as always I thank you for leaving positive and encouraging words on my blog!

I love your Hawaiian Shores fern leaves, Marcia ;-) It's a concept I will try to adopt too. Your card evolved into a real stunner!

So cute, I love it. I didn't even realize it was a shaker card until a re-read your blog. I didn't see the sequins. I love the color and the Rosie Posie pop of color. I can't wait to see it in person tomorrow:)

I started to use this exact image. So glad I did not since you rocked it! Beautiful with the die cut frame, too!

Marcia, I love what you did with your card. I'm totally amazed that its a shaker card. How did you create that? I have a couple of those dies and would love to make them into shaker cards.
