Altenew Academy Stunningly Simple Watercolor Techniques Day 1 & 2

Hello friends.  I broke out of my comfort zone and purchased an online class over at ALTENEW ACADEMY on different watercolor techniques.  I've only watched the first 2 video's, but am already learning so much, so it is definitely worth checking out if you're interested in watercoloring!  Day one was all about taking one color and making an ombre card.  Here's mine:

I wish I could tell you this was my first try, but it does take some practice!  My first attempt came out much lighter, so I learned to put down quite a bit more color on my craft mat (Summer Sunrise), and to use a good quality watercolor paper.  I used a cheaper watercolor paper the first time and it warped quite a bit!  I used Tim Holtz watercolor paper for this card and what a difference!  My butterfly and sentiment are both from Altenew's Painted Butterflies set, and I embossed the butterfly with WOW!'s Silver Pearl embossing powder on vellum.

Day two was about "smooshing", and again, I had to play a bit to get a piece that I actually liked.  Take a look:

I absolutely LOVE how this one turned out!  I smooshed Hibiscus Burst and Orange Zest inks, and once my paper was dry I stamped with Altenew's Vintage Flowers stamp set.  My sentiment is from PTI's Boutique Borders: Sympathy stamp set and is embossed in white.  A few sequins was the finishing touch for both cards.

Thank you LINDA for showing your beautiful work from this class and inspiring me to take the plunge...I am thoroughly enjoying this class!!

Thanks so much for stopping by today...I love it when you do!!  :0)

Marcia, you are welcome and you are doing a great job. These are two beautiful cards. Gorgeous. Even though I have taken some watercolor classes before I have learned something new in these techniques.
