Papertrey Ink October 2017 Blog Hop

Hello friends.  It's the 25th, and that means it's time for Papertrey Ink's monthly Blog Hop!  I have to admit that I struggled with this month's inspiration photo from Nichole.  I have struggled with other one's too, but after looking at them long enough, I usually come up with something to love about them!  Sadly, this month I just could not!  Even the colors didn't thrill me, which is usually what I gravitate to when the subject matter or theme isn't something I care for.  But I couldn't not play, as I don't think I've missed a monthly blog hop in over 4 years!

I ended up using the colors and came up with this:

I blended Blueberry Sky and Enchanted Evening inks onto my background and then used one of the stencils from Modern Background Stencil Collection with Enchanted Evening ink, starting light at the bottom and working up to darker towards the top.  Next I made a frame from the Mix & Mat: Pinked Edge die from white, so that my leaves, berries, & pinecones (Holiday Greens) would stand out from the background.   My sentiment is from Winter Woods and I finished with a few sequins and some heavy white bakers twine.  It's definitely not a bad card, and I followed the colors (although my Americana ink and cs look a little darker than the reddish pink that is in the inspiration photo!) and also the stencil lines that mimic the triangles in one of the little squares, so I'll call it good.  I know once I start hopping I'll see all kinds of fabulous cards with ideas that make me wonder why I didn't think of that and why I struggled so!  Sometimes I think I just OVERTHINK things and should just go with the flow!  Happy hopping everyone!  :0)

Thanks for stopping by today ... I love it when you do!

So you had a bad time with this month's inspiration photo too...I'm not the only one! It is difficult to make some pretty out of something that is not. I still like what you created with the color combo and
it IS pretty to look at. Nice job with the layering. :)

I am almost happy to hear that I was not the only one who struggled with that photo. I really like your card. Great colours and I love all the elements you have chosen. Well done you! Cheers.

Marcia, I can see how you might struggle with the inspiration photo. I'm just seeing it for the first time and nothing is popping in my head. Usually, I make my card in advance, so don't know if my mojo will work to make one for this. Anyway, your card is lovely as always.

Oh,Marcia I struggled a little bit too this month ~ I actually went to the Artist's website and was then more inspired by the picture Nicole posted.
I love how your card turned out and would never think of this color scheme on my own...I guess that IS the challenge though, eh?

Oh my good golly, Marcia, that's exactly why I went in my own direction... just couldn't connect with (a) the colors, and (b) the artwork. Not my favorite. But like you, I couldn't miss the hop. You certainly made the inspiration your own, and did a gorgeous Marcia card, complete with all the beautiful elements that make a card a gorgeous one. Lovely layers, colors and even a beautiful stenciled bg. Just gorgeous! Hugs, my friend!

Yes, there were too many things to choose from in the inspiration photo! I love this with the Blueberry Sky and Enchanted Evening and the Holiday Greens images in non-traditional colors.

I also like the new look of your blog! Very bright and cheery looking!

I hear you...I was very iffy about the inspiration! You did great though and captured the lovely fall colors!

Marcia, for not feeling very motivated/inspired you've done a fantastic job of it. Your card is awesome. Love the blue background and the diecuts on top. Glad you jumped in and created a card cause you did good. I'm impressed!

This was a hard photo collage, indeed. I like what you came up with, though. Doesn't look like you struggled. Nice job!

If you hadn't said anything I wouldn't have known you struggled with this challenge...
I think you used the colors beautifully! :)

I feel exactly the same as you about the challenge this time. (I thought it was a bit creepy, actually.) But you came up with a nice card, with nice colours! Good for you to have never missed a blog hop in four years! Amazing!

Marcia, I agree. This was a color challenge that I didn't really relate to as well. Your card is very pretty, though!

You overcame and you conquered this challenge Marcia! I can see why you struggled with the inspiration photo but no one would have ever thought that to look at your card. It came out beautifully!

I’m the same way...I usually go with the colours and try to find one element to work with. This is stunning!

I’m exactly like you - the colours need to speak to me. I struggled also, up to the last day. But I could not tell that it was a challenge for you, Marcia. It’s lovely!

Congratulations, Marcia, on your win! Funny how we struggle sometimes but still win $. I love every detail of your card and so happy to see you as a winner. (I’m way behind in blog commenting because of a glitch with my iPad. I would type great comments, hit Publish, and they'd vanish. Ugh!)
