The Flower Challenge #98 - Add Sparkle

Hello friends.  Hard to believe it's December already, isn't it?!  Hope your cards are all finished and in the process of being mailed out, but if not, we have a fun challenge for you this month at The Flower Challenge to help you finish up if you're still in need of more Christmas cards (or birthday cards, thank you's, etc.)  This month we are looking for SPARKLE on your cards, along with flowers too of course!!

Here's what I came up with...

I'll apologize up front for my photography skills as I wasn't able to catch all the sparkle that shows up in real life with this card!  I used Speckled Aura Gold foil for the Glimmer Ferns (Spellbinder's) in my background on black cs and then added a red Poinsettia die cut from red glitter cs.  (WF - Layered Poinsettia Die)

I used The Greetery's Deco Frames Die for the border on black background panel...thought it added a little something, something.  For my sentiment I added Memory Box's Special Merry Christmas die cut with gold mirror cardstock (cut 3 times for a bit of added dimension).

Here's a close up where hopefully you can see a bit of the sparkle from my Poinsettia and even a bit on my foiled ferns too.

We can't wait to see the gallery filled with SPARKLING floral cards, so check out the inspiration from the DT and then play along with us right HERE.  This challenge is open till Wednesday, Dec. 25th @ 5:00PM.

Thanks for stopping by today ... I love it when you do!

Color Hues Challenge #100 - BLUE & PURPLE

Hello friends and Happy December!  Nancy is our sweet hostess this time around at Color Hues and she would like to see BLUE & PURPLE on our cards.  Because of December being a busy, busy month for most of us, this challenge will run for the whole month (till Dec. 29th), giving you all some extra time to play along.  SPECIAL NOTE: Because this is our 100th challenge, Nancy decided a prize was in order and will be giving away a box of Spellbinder goodies (some new & some used once)!  Nancy will choose one winner and 3 runner ups as usual, and then put all 4 names into a hat to draw the winner of the prize box.  Even more reason to play along this month, right?!!  So without further ado, let's get to it!!

My first thought for this color duo was snowflakes, but then my brain went in a totally different direction (happens often!!) and I ended up making a card using an older set from The Greetery.  Take a look...

I stamped and stenciled my white panel with PFS's Slumber & Blue Jay blue inks and SU!'s Highland Heather ink with The Greetery's Winterberry Bouquet and then ran the whole panel through with The Greetery's Pierced Plaid coverplate die to add some interest to the background.

I die cut The Greetery's Cathedral Window die 3 times from white cardstock and glued that over the center of my panel before adding my JOY die cut (PTI's Bold Borders: Flurries) from silver glitter cs.  I finished with a few Disco Ball sequins (Gina K) and some PFS Amethyst Glitter Drops.

This card was actually my 2nd card as my 1st card didn't exactly come out with the colors I thought they should have.  I used Seaside Spray and Misty Moonlight for my blue leaves and they came out like this...

It came out pretty but definitely not the blue shades I was expecting...more green, don't ya think??  I finished it anyway because I was still in need of Christmas cards, and used The Greetery's JOY die (from the same silver glitter cs as my card up above) and SSS's Icy Snowflake embossing folder for the background.  So there you have my twofer for the month!

The DT has some absolutely beautiful cards using BLUE & PURPLE to inspire you this month, so check it all out right HERE and then play along with us.  Remember that this challenge is open for the whole month of December (Sunday, Dec. 29th @ 9:00AM) and that there is a big prize to be given away at the end.  Wishing you all the Happiest of Holidays and many blessings for the New Year!  See YOU in the gallery!!

Thanks for stopping by today ... I love it when you do!
