This was an element challenge - to use a candy cane on your card. Red and white is one of my favorite color combos, so I had fun with this one! Take a look:
I love how this card turned out...it just looks so "festive"!! :0) I used a brayer and red ink on my striped embossing folder to make my red & white (like a candy cane!) background, and then die cut the "merry" (PTI die) in red & white 3 times, to also mimic a candy cane. I attached this layer to a red card base and then added a white satin bow. I also tied in some red & white twine (The Twinery), and some silver cording to tie on the little glittered candy cane (Hobby Lobby). As a finishing touch, I also added a few iridescent sequins. When I showed it to my youngest daughter, she said, "boy, can't you just smell the peppermint?!!" I took that as a very high compliment! :0)
It is a VERY rainy Monday in my "neck of the woods", so I think I'll take that as an excuse to stay in my playroom today! :0) Thanks so much for stopping by and being patient last week while I took time to re-charge...stampers and card lovers are simply just all the BEST people out there! Have a wonderful Monday! :0)
I can smell the peppermint, too! Such an awesome card.
ReplyDeleteI wish we could share the rain. Good excuse to stay in and make pretty Christmas cards like yours! Which is just perfect, by the way. Sequins are my new fav and they look great on your card.
ReplyDeleteOh, this is *awesome*!! I love that you inked your plate, what a great effect! And the candy cane pattern of your words is perfect! Good to see you again this week Marcia!!
ReplyDeleteI agree- good idea. Lovely card.
ReplyDeleteThis is so fun! What a clever idea! Love the bouncy letters and the sparkle from the sequins! Thanks for joining us at Festive Friday!
ReplyDeleteSuch a pretty design, Marcia...and so striking! I do love how the white bow kind of 'softens' it up! Beautiful...thanks so much for playing along with us again!!!
