Hello friends. Time once again for Papertrey Ink's monthly challenge, and this month we were challenged to make a paper house. Papertrey provided the template for the house, and we provided the designs! Fun, fun challenge! A little time consuming, but still had lots of fun doing this one. Originally I had planned on making a whole little village, and even printed out the templates on a bunch of different colored cardstock. Needless to say, after making just one house, I figured a village was just out of the question. Oh well, maybe another day! But anyway, here is the house I did finish:
I apologize for my picture quality, but there just isn't a lot of sunshine in Michigan during the winter months! If you click on the picture to enlarge it, you will be able to see a lot more of the detail. Here's another shot, so you can see my roof a little better:
It's hard to see in either photo, but I started by running the template through my Cuttlebug with PTI's Herringbone Impression Plate...it gave my house a bit of the rustic look I was going for! My roof I made by punching out 3/4" circles and sponging them with Soft Suede ink before layering them down. This probably took the longest, but I really like the look it gives the little house! :0) I had fun adding the Christmas lights (Impression Obsession) to the roof line and all the little evergreen branches too (MS punch). My 2 trees in the front are from PTI's "Winter Hill's" stamp set. I used another MS punch for the white picket fence, and then added some snow (cotton balls) and candy canes (Hobby Lobby) to finish decorating my little house. Again, a lot of time went into just this one little house, but I had Christmas music playing on my ipod, and I was a happy camper while playing! :0)

Thanks so much for stopping by today...love it when you do!
I wondered if you were going to do this. It does look like a lot of work. But you did a great job. It's beautiful!
ReplyDeleteThis is just adorable! I love your roof and this little candy cane yard decorations.

Super sweet house!
ReplyDeleteI love the glittery evergreen trees! Beautiful house!
ReplyDeleteWell, no wonder it took you so long to do this house! The details are absolutely beautiful and amazing!! The sponging, the Christmas lights, the springs of holly... I could go on and on.
ReplyDeleteI just love the circles on the roof! And the circles on the pathway as well. Love the Christmas lights and the greenery around the rounded door is so pretty. The fence looks great. Just a lovely festive house!
ReplyDeleteWhat an amazing amount of detail, and so carefully done. First, I'm dumbfounded that you were able to find so many correctly sized details to fit this teeny house; the fence, trees, and lights (I'm jealous) are PERFECT.
ReplyDeleteYou need to know that your circular roof tiles are so artfully sponged, that when I first looked at the roof, I thought you had found little round cookies to use. If you ever tire of your house, I would be interested in moving in....but only if the Christmas decorations can stay up year round. You really have a winner here.
You are so very sweet to have left me a comment after all the time it took you to make your prize. Have a splendid Thanksgiving and may you have many more artful moments before the end of the year.
SOOOO CUTE! I LOVE every single detail!!!
ReplyDeleteHave a GREAT day!!
Holy guacamole, Marcia, you NEED to go back and make a whole village! Your little cottage is so adorable!! After seeing all the work and talent and detail on this, I can't believe I had the nerve to put mine in the hop today with a few scribbly details!
ReplyDeleteHappy Thanksgiving to you and yours, too! I hope you don't get that nasty storm up where you are. I think it's supposed to be south and then go up the Eastern seaboard. It's too bad with all the folks traveling. Safe traveling to anyone you have coming. Enjoy!! Hugs, Darnell
This is fabulous! I can't wait to show Izzy in the morning. She is going to go nuts for this beauty!
