Good morning friends. Playing along with the Merry Monday challenge today, and this week they would like us to use an animal on our Christmas card. Great excuse for me to use my new "Holiday Joy" stamp & die set by Tim Holtz that I received as a Christmas gift from my good friend Sue (she always spoils me with such neat gifts!!). I absolutely LOVE the pine trees in this set and the deer is pretty doggone cute too! :0) Take a look:
After inking up the pine tree stamp I misted it with some water, and that gave me the watercolor effect I was going for. I used musical design paper (The Paper Studio) for the deer and also sponged him a bit with some Soft Suede ink. I also used my new SU! dotted embossing folder for my top layer and I love the snowy look that this folder gives! :0) This is actually my 2nd try on this card, as the first one just didn't sit right with me. Take a look:
I had used a larger oval die on this one and I think that's the part that just didn't sit well with me. It's still pretty, but I think I like my second one better just because it's more CAS. What do you think?
Off to go make a birthday treat to share with all the ladies in my bible study this morning, so need to get mo-tating! Thanks so much for stopping by today and have a wonderful Thursday!
Wow, this is gorgeous! I love your ethereal-looking trees, and that reindeer made from the musical paper is stunning! Thanks so much for playing with the MM challenge this week, Marcia!
ReplyDeleteI really like both of your cards! The scene looks like the CO mountains. These are my new favorites of your Christmas creations.
ReplyDeleteI can't decide. I love both of them! I keep looking at both of them to see if one really grabs me over the other...nope! Love them both.
ReplyDeleteGreat cards love them both. It's a tie.
ReplyDeleteVery pretty card! I love the musical moose and watercolored looking stamped trees. I like the first one slightly better--that dotted embossing folder was a great choice!
ReplyDelete:) Marie
super jolie carte, biz
ReplyDeleteThey're both great!! I do like the larger oval opening with the dotted sky on the second one and I love the ribbon on the first one - can't decide - love them both!!
ReplyDeleteLovely card! I love those pine trees. I think they are now high on my wish list. I have the TH deer die and I used it a lot on last year's cards.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful card Marcia. LOVE the watercolored background with your gorgeous trees ... and love the reindeer cut from musical note paper - fabulous!
ReplyDeleteI'm a CAS girl, so I definitely like the card with the smaller oval and no banner ... but they are both lovely. Loll xx
Adorable card, I love your cute deer. Thank you for joining us for Merry Monday.
ReplyDeleteThis is just lovely. The watercolor look of the trees is great! Thanks so much for joining us this week at Merry Monday!
ReplyDeleteGorgeous card!
ReplyDeleteI think both are fantastic but I'm partial to the smaller oval and ribbon! What beautiful pine trees and a very handsome and graceful deer! Thanks for sharing this with us at Merry Monday!
ReplyDeleteLove both of your cards, Marcia! Beautiful trees and love that deer! So cute! Thanks for playing along with us this week over at Merry Mondays! :)
ReplyDeleteTwo beautiful Christmas cards ... it's difficult to pick a favourite. Love the reindeer. xx
ReplyDeleteWhat a beauty! Love that deer and the music notes plus the oval window with the trees is stunning. Thank you for joining us at Merry Monday!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful card, Marcia! Love the embossed background and the deer cut from music paper! Stunning!
ReplyDeleteI still love both of these cards! Congrats on your HM, too!
ReplyDeleteLove both of the cards, but you are right the the second one worked out better. I think the smaller oval and the ribbon instead of the banner made it work well. I love what you did with Tim's trees and the music paper deer is very festive.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on the well-deserved HM honor from MM, Marcia!! Hugs, Darnell
ReplyDeleteLove this one! Congrats on your HM with this adorable card .
