Make it Monday #235 - Adding Color to Stamped Images

Hello friends and Happy 2016!  Finally got a little bit of mojo back to play along with this weeks Make it Monday challenge where Laurie shows us how to add more color to stamped images with colored pencils and Gamsol.  Haven't used this technique in ages, so it was fun to pull the colored pencils and Gamsol out again!  I challenged myself to use the Brushed Blooms stamp set, as I've had it since last Spring, but was too intimidated to use it.  And now I don't know why I waited so long...it really is a pretty set, and so fun to use color and flowers again!  I love making Christmas cards, but was SO ready to move onto something else! :0)  So anyway, here's my take on this weeks challenge:

I started by stamping the leaves with Simply Chartreuse ink and then spritzing them with water before stamping them on my white cardstock.  I used the Lovely Lady and Hawaiian Shores inks for the flowers, and then went back in and added my colored pencils to the flower centers and a little bit on the leaves, and then spread the color with my paper stump and Gamsol.  At this point I had the card right side up, but was reaching for a brush to do some splattering, and my arm turned the card upside down, and after staring at it for a minute, I decided I really liked it that way!  So I added my Wet Paint sentiment and splattering, pop dotted it to a white card base, and added a piece of black and white bakers twine to finish it off.

There's still a few days to play along with this weeks challenge, so check out Laurie's great video and beautiful card right here to play along!

Well off to make an apple pie and then start un-decorating my house!  Thanks so much for stopping by today...I love it when you do!! :0)
