Hello friends. The challenge this week at Make It Monday is a fun one where Laurie shows us how to use our cover plate dies along with our tag dies to create a fun design. I used PTI's Butterfly Cover Plate and the Tag Sale #10 die to create a colorful tag. I blended a piece of card stock with Picked Raspberry and Spiced Marmalade distress inks, and then cut with the butterfly cover plate. Had to take a picture first before I cut it into a tag because it was so pretty:
This would have made a nice card just like it was! But I did cut it with my tag die and glued it to a black tag and came up with this:
I really love how this came out! Kind of reminds me of the Lisa Frank designs my girls all enjoyed when they were young. (Yes I know, I'm dating myself!!) I finished it with a simple embossed sentiment in white from the Tiny Tags stamp set and used some baker's twine at the top.
Make sure you check out Laurie's great video and cute, cute tags and then play along. You can find all the info right HERE.
Thanks so much for stopping by today...I love it when you do!
This is truly beautiful!! I understand you not wanting to cut into this beautifully colored piece but then you did and adhered it to the black tag and WOW!! what a sensational tag!

Wow! Black is a great color to set off your gorgeous butterflies! Very pretty card!
ReplyDeleteGorgeous! what a great cover plate to use for this...I am sure surprised my BFF didn't use that one because we both know how much she loves butterflies!! Great tag, friend!!
ReplyDeleteYour cover plate was almost too beautiful to cut! But when you did, and then put it over the dark bg, it became a striking beauty! You captured the best color variation and shapes of your butterflies too. Well done, Miss Marcia!!!!
ReplyDeleteAwesome!! LOVE the watercoloured butterflies on black ... really makes the colours pop. Great job Marcia! xx
ReplyDeleteBeautiful Marcia! I was going to say how hard it must have been to cut into that pretty cover plate image as well, but everyone beat me to it. ;0) Cutting it and putting it over the black tag is genius! It really pops and is truly stunning!!
ReplyDeleteBeautifully done, Marcia! Your blended butterflies are just stunning on your black tag with the small sentiment not interfering with its beauty.
ReplyDeleteYes, I agree, Marcia...that gorgeous Butterfly CP makes a lovely card by itself, but your tag is stunning and will be so appreciated by the recipient :-)
ReplyDeleteThe blended butterflies against the black background was a perfect choice Marcia!
ReplyDeleteLove your tag mounted on the black. It's so strikingly noticeable! Would be so pretty on a white gift bag. Your blended colors are very pretty indeed.
ReplyDeleteI love how your colors pop off the black card stock. Gorgeous tag!!!
ReplyDeleteThe butterfly cover plate was the 4th laying on my work space! I just didn't have time to make another one. I am so happy to see how beautiful yours came out! It made a gorgeous tag! I just love it! Love it on the black tag...great idea!
ReplyDeleteWow! I love the colours you picked. That red and orange look so vibrant on that black tag.
