I started by smooshing my background piece with some Aqua Mist re-inker on my craft mat, and then when dry, tried Ashley's technique of scrunching up a baby wipe and dipping it into Aqua Mist and Hawaiian Shores inks that I had put on a clear block. I ended up covering up a lot of the background with the rest of my card, but if you enlarge the photo, you can see it better!
I used the Mix & Mat: Flourish die to cut a piece of white to add my flowers (Some Like It Hot) onto, and then also added my sentiment banner (Just Desserts) over it. A few enamel dots finished off my card. Really like the way this background turned out and think it adds a nice backdrop for the rest of the card. Thanks Ashley!!
I FINALLY made a coin purse!! I have had the coin purse die for a looooong time and never done anything with it till I saw MARYBETH had made a couple using felt backed material (The Felt Pod) and absolutely fell in love with them! Had to order some of the material and then re-watched ERIN LINCOLN'S video, and voila! Easy peasy!!
Even putting the 4" zipper in was easy! And this material is so cool...does NOT ravel! Can't wait to make some more now! Thanks Marybeth for inspiring me!! :0)
Make sure you check out Ashley's beautiful cards and great video and then play along right HERE.
Thanks so much for stopping by today...I love it when you do!! :0)
Your card is stunning Marcia! Love those brightly colored hibiscus flowers. So pretty! And so is your sweet coin purse! Great job on both!! Thanks so much for linking Erin's video too. You think of everything!
ReplyDeleteVery pretty card, Marcia! Love the hibiscus flowers and the mat you used.
ReplyDeleteMarcia I love your card and beautiful background ! No need for patterned paper any more:)
ReplyDeleteI am so happy you used that coin purse die you have had for way too long! 😊 Its beautiful and the zipper... not scary , right! Love the print you picked and the tassel on the zipper pull! I can't stop making them with that felt backed material from " The Felt Pod"! Nancy has some gorgeous coin purses too from a while back for more inspiration! Love this post today!
Well I think you ought to go into the designing designer paper business. It's just beautiful in those colors, so tropical with the hibiscus. And it looks like I better get on the ball and find that adorable fabric backed felt. Aren't they fun to make? The tassel on the coin purse is adorable!!! Thank YOU for the inspiration!
ReplyDeleteWhat a stunning card Marcia! Your baby wipe background is the perfect setting for the colorful additions you made to the card. And your coin purse is really cute!
ReplyDeleteHi Marcia,
ReplyDeleteYour card is so fabulous! You really made a beautiful and unique background with this technique. LOVE the bright floral focal point too.
Love your Aqua Mist background...of course, I'd like anything made with Aqua Mist. It goes beautifully with the hibiscus flowers. Guess I'm going to have to pay more attention to people's blog...your coin purse is perfect. TFS!
ReplyDeleteGorgeous background for those beautiful hibiscus flowers! Love it! I covered up most of my background, too, which I slightly regretted, but since this is such an easy technique, I may try it again and let the background take centre stage. Love your coin purse, too!
ReplyDeleteYour background is beautiful Marcia. I love it. And that sweet little coin purse is so precious. Have a good day, my friend.
ReplyDeleteAmazing, both card and purse. I have that purse die too and struggled with it turning out good enough to give away...love yours, and of course all of the ones Marybeth has done!! Maybe I can try it again with the new material from the Felt Pod!! Great background BTW!!
ReplyDeleteMarcia, I love your bright hibiscus flowers layered on your Flourish Mat with the beautiful layer behind it. Great way to tuck in your sentiment also. And, what a pretty coin purse you made!
