This was one of those challenges that I had the card idea in my head, but it just wasn't translating well onto my cardstock...or Yupo paper to be exact! I was using two shades of green and a purple for my Alcohol inks and when the purple touched the greens, it was turning a muddy brown...yuck! I did manage to use one that looked ok, but the card I liked the best was when I decided to use Bonnie's technique (found HERE) that she's calling an alcohol wrap. I cut open a cellophane bag and added a few drops of my green and purple alcohol inks, smooshed my Yupo paper in it, and then added a scrunched up piece of plastic wrap on top and left it to dry. I loved the look and came up with this card:
A closer up view so you can see a little more of the detail in the background...fun technique and so cool looking! Love it!! (Thanks Bonnie!!)
And here is the first card I made where I just dropped the alcohol ink onto the Yupo paper:
There's still lots of time to play in this challenge, so check out all the beautiful inspiration from Loll and Bonnie and the DT, and then play along. You can find it all right HERE.
Thanks so much for stopping by today...I love it when you do!
I love both your backgrounds, Marcia! And that die is perfect for showing them off! Thanks for the shout out and thanks so much for sharing with us at CAS Mix Up!
ReplyDeleteBoth cards are so pretty, Marcia. I can see that using the cellophane bag produces lighter shades of the inks. Both backgrounds are so beautiful and I love the design of your cards. Thanks for sharing with us at CAS Mix Up! xx
ReplyDeleteGorgeous backgrounds for both your cards, Marcia. Your card designs using your die cut circle leaves are CAS beauties. TFS and joining us at CAS Mix Up.
ReplyDeleteBoth backgrounds are wonderful Marcia! I love the purple and green together but can see where that would be hard to not let them turn into mud. They're both beautiful but I like the soft marbled look of the first one the best. So pretty!
ReplyDeleteMarcia, both cards are stunning. I love the inlaid die cut the white really pops against the AI's
ReplyDeleteBoth of your backgrounds are lovely Marcia! Two lovely techniques for the AI's. The simple white stems and circle framings really focus on the inked circles! Thanks for playing along with the CAS Mix Up! Julia xx
ReplyDeleteYou made a beautiful background piece using Bonnie's alcohol wrap technique - and I love the subtlety of the green and purple on. Though I also love the vibrancy of your second card! Thanks so much for joining us at CAS Mix Up.
