Twofer Challenge #23 - HEARTS

Hello friends.  I am beyond excited to share with you today that I am the newest member of the Twofer Challenge Design Team!  What an AMAZING and AWESOME creative team to be a part of, and I hope you will find lots of inspiration here on my blog to inspire you to play along with us each month!

For this first month of the new year, the new challenge is all about HEARTS!  Remember that you need to make TWO cards, and that they need to be for DIFFERENT occasions...birthdays and anniversaries, or Valentines Day and Get Well Soon, or Christmas and Thinking of You, or well, you get the idea right??!!  So use the same stamp, stencil, or die cut and make two cards for two different occasions and most of all have FUN!!

I used a Penny Black image (...goodness!) for my two cards and made a Valentine's Day card and a Get Well Soon card!  Take a look:

This little girl made a sweet, sweet Valentine for my sweet little granddaughter Addy, but it also worked perfectly with the sentiment included with the set to use as a Get Well card!

For my first card I used lots of heart images, but the hearts on her dress were the main heart images I used for both cards.  I started with a white card base and added PTI's Bold Borders: Hearts die cut frame in white for a white on white background.  Next I added a die cut heart from PTI's Primitive Stitched Hearts die collection and stitched it with some red & white bakers twine.  (I think that took longer than the actual making of both cards together!!)  Here's a closer up of the little girl that I colored with my Copics and fussy cut:

Isn't she such a CUTIE?!  My sentiment was embossed with white onto black using an MFT stamp from the MFT Sweet Celebrations set.  (and of course I had to add a little glitter to the frilly underskirt of her dress because, well, Addy LOVES glitter!!

My 2nd card is a bit more simple, but I still really like the way it turned out!  I think with the sentiment and the way she's holding her hand up by her mouth is just perfect for a Get Well Soon card!  I used a piece of Bashful Blue cardstock and embossed the little girl image in black, but stamped it so I left off the lollipop she's holding in the 1st card.  Next I channeled my inner Ros (I just LOVE her style!!) and die cut a white frame (PTI's Pierced Feature Frames) that I had embossed with SU!'s Subtle embossing folder and framed the little girl to put the emphasis on her.  I did use a B00 Copic to color in the hearts on the little girls dress.

I finished this card with the sentiment that comes with the ...goodness! stamp set and then added this panel to a white card base.  I also added a piece of white bakers twine and little die cut heart stamped with the feel better sentiment from PTI's Tiny Words stamp & die set.  Oh and also a few clear gemstones from Lucy's Little Things.

And lastly a picture of my simple insides of the two cards.  Some people go all out decorating the insides of their cards too, but that's not me!  I love to just add a simple strip of color coordinating DSP (because who doesn't like Polka Dots, right Bev?!!!) to dress up the inside just a bit along with the inside sentiment.

So there you have it my friends...2 cards using hearts and the same image but for totally different occasions!  Can't wait to see what all of you come up with for this challenge and we'll be looking for YOU in the gallery!  This challenge is open till the 24th, and make sure you stop by the Twofer Challenge Blog to see the AMAZING inspiration from the rest of the DT and our Special GD's Jane Willis and Jacquie Southas.

We are also celebrating our 2nd Blogaversary this month (WOW!!  How has it been 2 years already?!!), so make sure you check out Twofer Challenge Blog to see how we're celebrating!!

  5. So glad to have you on the TCC design team, Marcia!! And you've started off with a bang! That little girl is adorable, and I love the subtlety of the hearts in her dress. The Valentine is sweet, and chock-a-block full of wonderful hearts, and done in the perfect Valentine colors - red and white! Using that sweet image on that pretty blue cardstock was a great idea! She still shines inside that amazing frame! I can see I have to start shopping again soon, lol!! Great cards. xo Bev

  13. Welcome to the Twofer Card Challenge Design Team, Marcia! We are so fortunate to have you on the Team!! Your darling little Addy looks so precious and adorable in her baby doll heart-patterned dress! You picked a wonderful image for the HEARTS prompt and I love how you were able to showcase her with two different, but equally fabulous, designs! I love your color schemes, and share Bev's love of polkie-dots (great insides, too!), but I really really adore how you tied the stitched heart red and white twine and placed her so it looks like a bow in her hair!! Hugs, Darnell

  14. Welcome, Marcia ... sooo happy to be designing alongside you at Twofer! What a brilliant debut, my friend ... your sweet little girl is just adorable in her heart covered dress! Love how you layered her onto the stitched heart on Addy's Saint Valentine's Day card ... and of course, that glittered little peek of petticoat is just so perfect! The pretty blue with the white frame is so crisp and fresh on your get well card ... little cutie looks equally adorable with her blue hearts and soft rosy cheeks! Great polka dot insides on both cards ... is there anyone who can resist polka dots?! Hugs, Anita :)

Addy is going to love her Valentine! I love the red and white of her outfit and lollipop. I think stitching that heart would take me the longest too! She makes for a perfect "get well" wisher with her hand up by her mouth. I love how you framed her and the sentiments (both outside and in) are perfect! Again, I'm so happy you're here!
