Playing Along With Gina K's Wednesday Whimsy & Flashback Friday

Hello friends.  I've been hanging out with Gina K on Monday, Wednesday, & Friday evenings for something to do during this stay at home time, and have been having a blast learning some new things!  Last week Wednesday Gina showed a Wax Paper Background technique using stencils that was so FUN and then another another technique last Friday called Retiform that I wasn't sure about at first but then found to be highly addictive once I started playing around with it!  So anyway, I have quite a few cards to share today, so sit back and let me share what I've been up to!

Let's start with the Wax Paper Technique first...

As you can see, it was a little hard to stop at just one!  I used Gina's Daisy Chain, Square Mandala, and Snowflake Mandala stencils along with my rubber mat, wax paper, and inks to create the backgrounds, and then finished with die cut circles for my sentiments, and some assorted butterflies (Gina K and PTI) and a flower from Gina's Vibrant Blooms set.  Here's a couple close ups:

I think this one turned out to be my favorite and was made with the leftover strips from cutting down my backgrounds.  The sentiment is from Gina's little freebie set that came with one of my orders way back when.

Can you make out the daisies in the background of this one?  The sentiment is from Stamp Simply's Fear Not set and the butterfly is from PTI's A Bit More: Butterfly Blooms.

This background was done with the Square Mandala stencil, the sentiment from the freebie set again, and the butterfly from PTI's Butterfly Hope.

And now for the addicting Retiform technique...

This was my 2nd try...my first one is underneath this 2nd try.  It's kinda hard to explain how this technique is done, but definitely watch Gina's video (linked above) as she explains and shows it beautifully!  I have been stamping for over 20 years now and had never heard of this technique before, and wasn't even sure I liked it at first, but as I said it is addicting once you get started!  This sympathy card used stamps from Gina's Nurturing Blooms, Just A Little, and Something Good In Every Day

Of course I had to try a Christmas one too and used Gina's Fruit Of The Season stamp set for all the different images.

And here they are both together.  These cards take some time and you do have to do a little thinking about placement and color, but so fun to see the whole card emerge in the end!

Stay safe, be well, and hope you are finding things to do to keep busy and not go too stir crazy!  I am getting a bit of cabin fever, but am extremely grateful for my card making hobby and for all those out there like Gina K who are so giving of their time and talents to keep us busy and occupied...THANK YOU!!

Thanks for stopping by today ... I love it when you do!
