Twofer Challenge #31 - TREES

Hello friends.  It's time for another Twofer Challenge and this month the prompt is TREES.

Here's what I came up with using an older SU! set called Sheltering Tree...

Using the same TREE stamp I made a Fall/Thank You card and a Christmas card.

I have been wanting to try my hand at this style of card for awhile now where you stamp the TREES all around the edge of your card so it looks like you're looking up through the center of a group of TREES.  I started by stamping the TREE bases first in dark brown ink, and then used the 2nd stamp for the leaves using yellow, orange, & red inks on each tree...working my way around like I was stamping a wreath!  I used a little bit of blue ink in the very center for my sky and then added my die cut grateful sentiment (PTI's Counting My Blessings) in the middle.

My Christmas card uses the same TREE stamped on a gray card panel, and then I used white pigment ink on the leaf stamp and for the ground stamp.  I added a red cardinal for a pop of color (PTI's In The Meadow dies) and the sentiment is from Penny Black's Yuletide Wishes stamp set.  I matted the light gray panel to a darker gray panel and adhered both to a top folding white card base.  This was a pretty easy card to make but I love the way it turned out!!

Check out all the great inspiration from the DT and our Special GD's this month right HERE.  We can't wait to see what YOU come up with using the TREE prompt.  This challenge is open till the 24th.

Thanks for stopping by today ... I love it when you do!

  1. These are both so gorgeous Marcia, but I'm going crazy over the fall card! That's the first thing I thought of when I saw it, that you're looking up through a grove of trees. .. and then I read what you wrote. It's stunning! Your Christmas card is equally stunning using the snow to cover the ground and trees and of course that little red cardinal simply pops! Two beautiful cards here my friend!!

  3. Oh my, Marcia, that fall card is awesome. All that stunning autumn color and the design is wonderful. Changing it up, the soft white leaves are beautiful on the winter tree. Two great cards!

  4. I think both of your designs are breathtaking this month, Marcia! I just love looking up through those magnificent fall leaves to the peek of sky. You laid down the perfect fall leaf colors and I think the grateful sediment die works perfectly with your design! And your gray and white Christmas card design is serene and lovely. That cardinal red really makes one notice the awesome snowy tree and just makes me happy! Keep well! Hugs, Darnell

  6. wow - what great cards using that tree stamp Marcia! LOVE the one where the tree comes in from all sides with the brilliant fall leaves, like we're looking up from the street on a canopy of leaves - such a creative design - and your winter snowy tree is lovely in it's oneness with the beautiful red cardinal in it's branches! xx

  8. This is one of my favorite tree stamps and I LOVE how you've stamped it around the edges and stamped those gorgeous, vibrant leaves! It would make a good Thanksgiving card too. Your Christmas card is so pretty stamped on the gray with the snowflakes swirling around the tree and the sweet red cardinal adding a wonderful pop of color! Two awesome cards, my friend!

  11. They are both fantastic, Marcia! I love how you gave your fall trees the perspective of looking up from below - so cool with just that bit of blue sky! Your Christmas card looks like it should be the beginning credits of A White Christmas! I love the bit of red in the cardinal. Wonderful twofer, my friend!

  13. I'm imagining lying on the forest floor, looking up through these gorgeous autumn colours, Marcia ... such a clever idea ... and so effective! The snow covered tree on your Christmas card is delicate and so magical ... and the pop of colour from the cardinal is perfect against the grey and white! Hugs, Anita :)

  14. What a great tree stamp, Marcia. Even greater is what you did with it. The Fall ones really do look like you're lying on the ground looking up and the snow covered tree on gray is so elegant.

  17. Wow, I'm in love with both of your Twofers! I love the cards that make you seem as though you are looking up at the trees, but never thought to use this stamp set to achieve that. I love how yours came out, so I will be giving this a try for sure! Definitely a beautiful fall/Thanksgiving card. You winter/Christmas card is equally beautiful. I love it stamped on a grey background. The pop of red with the bird is just perfect. I can feel the brisk, coldness of the day on this card. Will be here in my neck of the woods before I know it. lol Love that you used this old, but beloved stamp set. Hugs, Brenda

  18. There was a place in northern WI called Maple Grove...or that's what we called it anyway. Your Fall card reminds me of the days we'd lay in this clearing and just look up at the colors. Beautifully done, my friend. Thanks for the memory reboot!! It's really stunning. And it's so cool that the angles give such a skyward look. Hard to believe that the same tree stands alone in your field of snow! Very, very pretty. Very, very cool! Your cards have blown my mind! Hope all is well, and that little Eunice Cornelia is getting lots of love and cuddles. xo Bev

  20. Two beautiful tree cards Marcia! I LOVE the autumn one ... it really does look like I'm standing underneath, looking up into the trees canopy. And what a gorgeous canopy of leaves it is! Wonderful and creative design, my friend.

Your winter tree is gorgeous on gray with the white ink. LOVE this. Great work on both cards! xx
