I LOVE doing silhouettes because to me that means ink blending too, and it's one of my favorite things to do!! Today I'm using a Penny Black stamp set called soulful silhouettes (perfect name, huh?!) for my Twofer, so here's what I came up with...
Pretty colorful, right??! Well it is Fall and we definitely have a LOT of color here in my neck of the woods during Fall, so I figured the brighter the better for my "Just A Note" and "To Brighten Your Day" cards!
So let's start with my ink blended card. I used Gina K inks and started with Passionate Pink, then Tangerine Twist, followed by Wild Dandelion. There are 5 different silhouette images (plus two butterfly images) in this Penny Black set, and I used 3 of them with my Versafine Black Onyx ink and my MISTI to stamp over the blended ink. I also added one of the butterflies for a little more interest, and then matted with a black layer and adhered to a white card base. My sentiment comes from The Greetery's Just Mason Around stamp set and I embossed it in white on a black strip with foam tape behind it. The blended layer also has a foam layer behind it for added dimension. CAS and should definitely brighten someone's day!!
My 2nd card starts with a water colored background using Fired Brick and Spiced Marmalade Distress Inks, and then I used the same image from the center of my first card on this card, stamped 3 times and then die cut with a circle die. I die cut the same circle die on a white panel that I also embossed with SU!'s Subtle ef, before adding to a white card base.
Just a little close up so you can see the detail better. I inlaid my stamped circle into the top embossed layer and then added my sentiment from The Greetery's Signed & Sealed stamp set. A few orange enamel dots finished off this card.
Silhouette cards are so much FUN to make and especially at this time of year! There are so many great images you can use...think leaves, pumpkins, ghosts, florals, haunted houses, etc., etc., etc.!! Make sure you check out all the FABULOUS inspiration from Darnell, the rest of the DT, and our special GD's Carol and Shawna right HERE, and then play along with us! We can't wait to see what YOU come up with!!
Thanks for stopping by today ... I love it when you do!
I love ink blending too and I love your cards... Beautiful colours and so very eye-catching!
ReplyDeleteYou're so right...inky backgrounds are so perfect for silhouette images, especially these two beauties. Those PB stamps are gorgeous against those colors, and I'm really quite smitten with that embossing folder. You've made my credit cards start to whisper in my ears, lol! Two things really struck me about your cards, besides how pretty they both are; first, the bit of black as a frame really accents your panel on your encouragement card, and second, the two orange enamel dots frame your sentiment perfectly on your note card. Just the right little touches that "make" your cards. How's Eunice Cornelia? You'll have to keep me posted! Take care and stay safe. xo Bev
ReplyDeleteLovely cards Marcia using my new 'favourite' stamp set! (Be a fave until I buy another!!)
ReplyDeleteHave a lovely weekend! x
Gloriously vibrant and colourful, Marcia ... both of them! The row of silhouette foliage and flowers along the bottom edge of the first makes the colours really pop ... and I love the playful touch you added with the butterfly! What a delicious, smooshy background for your Just A Note card ... seems as though we're looking up from a wildflower meadow to a dramatic sunset! Hugs, Anita :)
ReplyDeleteYour sunset blended design is breathtaking, Marcia! You really are an expert blender and your dark wildflowers look stunning in the foreground! I love the same warm fall colors on your watercolored circle background, too! These designs are a feast of color for our eyes! Keep well. Hugs, Darnell

I love how you used your silhouette stamps on your Twofer! You may have actually inspired me to create my twofer with your blended backgrounds! I love the pinks, oranges and yellows together for a dramatic nighttime look on the first, and the subtle look of the circle silhouettes looks quite pretty on the note card! Well done on both!
