I started with Altenew's Beautiful Bergenia 3D embossing folder, and inked up the inside of the folder (the raised side) with Broken China, Shaded Lilac, & Wilted Violet DOX inks with a Altenew flat bottomed ink blending brush to create a periwinkle color (Pantone Color of the year). Once it was dry, I fussy cut from bottom to top around some of the flowers to create my flap.
For the middle flap I used MB's Pinpoint Leaf Plate and then added my embossed sentiment strips using stamps from Gina K's A Little Hello set. The die cut "hello" on the front flap is also from Gina K (A Little Hello Bundle).
The middle section has a piece of SU!'s Highland Heather card that was the closest I had to a periwinkle color, and that's the area where I can write my message.
So there you have my fun fold, tri-fold card using a monochrome color theme and Bergenia's for my flowers. Something a little different and actually very fun to make! Check out Jennifer's video (link above) for all the how to's...it's really very easy to do and you can use a variety of stamps/dies to create the front flap.

Thanks for stopping by today ... I love it when you do!
So beautiful, Marcia! I adore that Bergenia embossing folder and haven't 'inked or pressed it' in too long! Gorgeous in these periwinkle colors!

I'm a member of that after holiday slump club too, Marcia! But wowee look at your mojo coming back with a bang! What a pretty card! That's an incredible embossing folder and I love the colors you added to that panel. Pretty pretty!!
ReplyDeleteWhat beautiful tones of lilac, mauve, and purple - wonderfully coloured and a great layout! I'm in a slump for anything but more Christmas cards - our very cold snowy weather (unusual for Vancouver) has just inspired me to keep making Christmas cards and I can't seem to force myself to do anything else, despite birthdays coming up soon!
ReplyDeleteWOW! LOVE that gorgeous flower embossing on the front of your card. Cutting out around the design to show off the embossed background is so creative and beautiful. What a cool tri-fold ... I need to give this a try. xx
ReplyDeleteStunning fold card. The dimensional embossing looks amazing and this is one stand out and beautiful card Marcia x.
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful trifold card! The embossed flowers dusted in periwinkle tones are so pretty against the pinpoint background. So glad you found inspiration to help you out of the slump club.
ReplyDeleteI saw that video and am glad you decided to try the tri-fold, Marcia, because it is stunning. Cutting the embossing folder gave you a wonderful textural image and combining inks to make that color was magic. Thanks for sharing your card with us at The Flower Challenge.
ReplyDeleteOh goodness I love that card. The stitched leaves background is a perfect foil for the gorgeous embossed panel.
ReplyDeleteThis is a gorgeous take on the monochrome prompt for TFC, Marcia! I love periwinkle. Why don't we use it more often? Your shading is perfect, as is all the wonderful texture. And you did a great job fussy cutting around the flowers to make your front fold. I hope you are getting over your slump now. Been there; decided I'd had enough of that cuz it was only making me feel worse! Happy New Year, my friend! Hugs, Darnell
