The first one we die cut was all the pieces for the Santa, and while it seemed like there were over a 100 pieces to this cute little guy, I think in reality it was a few less than that. But not by much!! Haha! But anyway, here's what I came up with...
Isn't he a cutie?! I cut mine all out of white cardstock except for the black pieces, so I had some coloring to do with my Copics. My background used SB's Hexi Snowflake embossing folder and a scrap piece of dsp from SU!, and the sentiment was die cut from black cs using Waffle Flower's Merry Christmas Print Die. I used a wobbler behind Santa for a little interactive movement and then finished with a few Disco Ball sequins (Gina K).
This card uses the Deck The Halls die set from Tim and I did use colored cardstock with a little bit of shading using ink and blending brushes. Once I had all the pieces glued together, I mounted them to a white panel that I embossed using SSS's Holiday Greenery embossing folder and a edger die from PTI (To The Point Edger's II). The scrap of dsp at the bottom is from SU! and is a dark green and not black like my photo shows.
Here's a close up so you can see some of the details better. For my sentiment I used PTI's Tiny Tags die and stamp set and attached it with a piece of twine. I really like the way this one came out!!
My 3rd card from Tim uses the Delightful Deer dies, and I think these two are having a little Christmas time romance! They were die cut from kraft and white cardstock and I used a bit of Walnut Stain Distress Ink to add some blending around the edges of the two. I embossed a die cut circle using SSS's Forest Border embossing folder and added the deer over top of it.
You can see the embossing a bit better in this close up. I also made this card using a book binding fold where you score 1" from the left hand fold and then glue it down from the inside, so the card opens up like a book. (Hope that makes sense?!) I used Evening Evergreen cs and a coordinating scrap of dsp from SU! to add borders to this card. There didn't seem to be a good place to add a sentiment on the outside, so I'll just add it to the inside. I finished with a few wooden stars that I've had for ages from SU!.
My last card is VERY simple but I'm absolutely loving all the SPARKLE from a piece of gold glitter cs (SU!). The tree is from a Waffle Flower Sneak Peek Kit (Retro Christmas Tree) that I won a few weeks back and hadn't had a chance to play with it yet. The tree was stenciled and then die cut, and then I used the same die to cut out the gold glitter cs piece and offset it just a bit so you could see even more of all that sparkle. I placed it on a white embossed background using that same Spellbinder's Hexi Snowflake embossing folder that I used on my Santa card. The die for the star and the sentiment strip were also included in the kit. I did add some sparkling gems for the background from PFS.
Four more cards for my Christmas stash and I'm so happy about that, as I haven't been keeping up like I have in past years! Thanks for getting me motivated Michele, and of course for sharing all your goodies with me, the wonderful lunch, and most of all the continued friendship...I am such a lucky girl!! Make sure you check out what Michele did with these Tim Holtz dies...she never disappoints and always amazes me with her talent and creativity! And now I'm off for a look see!! Blessings my friends!
I KNOW you and Michele had a wonderful time. What better way to play with dies that have so many pieces than to do it with a friend! Santa is such fun and I love the bit of DSP that finishes the card beautifully! The cut and paper on the second card are perfect with that pretty spray of greenery and beautiful bow. Your romantic deer are adorable and I love the fold of that card with the pine tree paper on the edge. And a beautiful Christmas tree with schparkly ornaments to finish off your collection. It was fun seeing you and now seeing your completed projects.
ReplyDeleteWhat a fun thing to do on a hot day! Oh and I did not know about the egg rolls. I will have to come back! I had to laugh about all the pieces, and I am sure they are so much more fun to work with with a good friend!!! I love each card to pieces (pun intended). I also love the embossed backgrounds and paper choices. Oh what fun!!!!!
ReplyDeleteWell, besides being a PRO puzzle-piecer, your finishing touches with all those darling little scraps of patterned paper are so wonderful, Marcia! BOOKFOLD??!! That is amazing and totally new to me, my friend!
ReplyDeleteWhy you were questioning your Santa is beyond me - he's darling and WHY didn't I think of a wobbler? Next time! [if there is a next for that jolly dude]
Your big Bow came out so beautifully and SO lovely the way you've arranged it - glad I know where to find it again when I arrange another!
Your darling deer are doing a doe-see-doe but I'm glad you didn't arrange them as we discussed HA!
You should have seen me fussy-cutting the backer on my Christmas tree, Marcia - it was more like 'cuss-y-cutting!' I just love the gold sparkle!
You are the best and so is our time together - until next time... xo

Awesome cards! I love the Santa, but I have yet to get a decent non-mutilated belt buckle cut with metallic cardstock! Closest I came was to cut it in white and paint it gold with watercolor! Beautiful cards with the greenery and bow, and I love the deer! Fabulous tree, so pretty with the gold sparkly accents!
ReplyDeleteWow, you and Michele always make such pretty and creative cards at your playdates. Wish I lived close enough to join you. Your Santa looks great and I like the striped paper you added at the bottom. The second card is lovely with those branches & bow, along with the border die cut and DSP. Love the dear card too and special fold. That Christmas tree is amazing in layers and the sparkly gold behind it. Thanks for for the inspiration. Got to get busy with my own Christmas cards.
ReplyDeleteWhat a fun day you two had crafting together because it shows in your finished projects. So many fabulous cards, Marcia. I love your wobbly Santa, what a great idea. All of your cards have wonderful layers and texture. You and Michele have enticed me to pull out my Christmas supply as I have yet to make one Christmas card this year.
ReplyDeleteMarcia, wow that is a lot of die cutting and bits to keep track of. Your four cards are fantastic. Each a wonderful festive sight. Hard to pick a favorite so I won't I love em all.
ReplyDeleteThree great cards for your stash, and I must say I'm loving all the fiddly details of the dies and sweet choices of pp! Congrats on building that stash -- and meantime I'll daydream about that time when I got to spend a couple hours with you two! You're not lucky, Marcia, you're both blessed!
ReplyDeleteHello, Marcia! Today I picked out two people to visit and it seems a good choice as I got to see what you and Michele both created from your play date. What fun! Sorry I can't comment on all. This may be the new normal for me. You know how I love everything you make, and I'm especially a fan of the TH dies. I'm so eager to get back to crafting! Thanks for such an inspiring and smile-inducing visit!
ReplyDeleteEach card had me wanting more Marcia! The Santa card turned out fabulous and so worth the effort of all that paper piecing. The fact that he's on a wobbler makes him extra fun and special. The holiday spray is so pretty with the embossed background and pretty edging, showing off the equally pretty paper. That die set looks a little more doable. I love how you added the shading to the bow. It looks perfect! The romantic reindeer are prancing through life without a care in the world. The book binding is such a great way to add a strip of dp. Just perfect with with embossed focal spot too!! Last but certainly not least is your beautiful Christmas tree. So pretty with the gold peeking out from behind. That hexagon snowflake ef is so cool. You've outdone yourself with all these lovelies. I can just imagine how fun it is to pass the time crafting with Michele. You are so blessed!
ReplyDeleteYou accomplished quite a bit with all those die pieces, Marcia. Everything went together beautifully with your creative touch adding all the wonderful finishing touches. Good for you for adding four more Christmas cards to your stash.
ReplyDeleteMichele and I had a FT conversation about that fiddly Santa the other day! You gals both stepped up to the plate and delivered! Wowee, these are all just wonderful, Marcia. You are putting my Christmas card stash to shame, I need to get busy!
