This first card uses a die set from Michele and Concord & 9th called Cherry Nice, and it turned into a perfect birthday card for one of my granddaughters who is turning 5 next week (I swear she was just a baby last week!!). Take a look...
The BIRTHDAY WISHES sentiment was embossed in white on red cs and the red ric rac is from PTI's Skinny Ric Rac die. Thanks for sharing Michele and helping me get this birthday card made actually ahead of time!
My 2nd card uses Honey Bees Winter Birds dies from Bobby after seeing her gorgeous card HERE. I was so in love with the cardinal AND the color of the blue background that Bobby used that I had to try and replicate her card with what I had at home. I ended up using poppystamps Bird House Pop Up Easel Dies and Boho Blue cs (SU!) to make a resting place for the cardinal. I did a bunch of ink blending on the cardinal before putting the layers together, and then attached him to the house.
I'm going to add both these cards to the Can You Handle the Pressure challenge since I used embossing folders for the backgrounds on both cards, and also the NBUS challenge since I have never used either of the dies before.
Thank you sooooo much Michele & Bobby for sharing your supplies and helping me with a birthday card and one more for the Christmas stash! Crafting friends are absolutely the best!!
These are both so cute! Those smiling cherries are just adorable and perfect for little Maddy. I can't believe she's turning 5 already. Wow, time flies! Your winter cardinal is gorgeous too, on his ice capped bird house. Perfect shading on both cards.
ReplyDeleteYou are making me love those cherries even more with their cute little smiley faces, Marcia! Maddy truly is going to smile when she opens this one - but doesn't she always?
ReplyDeleteYour Cardinal is so pretty, too - and I will want to emboss a few of those Winter Snow panels next playtime! Such perfect snow and we don't have to shovel it!

Your cards are fantastic, Marcia! I have one of Michele's cherry cards and LOVE it, plus you put a smiley face to make it even more fun for your granddaughter. Your cardinal card is of course fabulous, as the bird himself is just so regal and classic. Great makes from a great day!
ReplyDeleteMaddy will cherryish her card forever in her keepsakes, Marcia! It is so beautifully composed and colored and I love that you added the sweet bee faces to the cherries! And, yes, sigh, she was just born yesterday!
ReplyDeleteAnd that red cardinal against the blue and white is regal and magnificent! A wonderful CASE of Bobby's card! It makes me so happy that you ladies got together and had a blast craftin' and laughin'! Thank you for inspiring everyone to use their NBUS! Hugs, Darnell
YOur cherry card is just the cutest. I am sure Maddy will be over the moon with it. So sweet. The beautiful birdhouse and cardinal are also quite eyecatching. Love.
ReplyDeleteAwwww... what a darling birthday card for your sweet girl! Time sure does fly, doesn't it? Michele might just be forcing me to shop for that cherry set LOL! I like your pretty cardinal too. It really pops against the blue birdhouse!
ReplyDeleteThe fun from your playdate continues, Marcia. I love these cherries with the smiley faces and I'm sure Maddy will too! It's so bright and pretty and that rick rack tugs my heart! The cardinal is beautiful and show so well against his blue birdhouse! Two lovely cards, my friend!
ReplyDeleteOh! Your cherry card is so dang cute, Marcia! I love them with the faces and it's fabulous fun that you thought of doing that. I'd probably be putting them on everything now. LOVE it! Pretty with the red plaid, the ric rac, and the cherry-embossed background. And your cardinal & birdhouse! Well, you know I love anything with birds, so that one is making me smile right along with the cherries! Thanks, Marcia!
ReplyDeleteI LOVE Maddy's birthday card. Those cherries are so sweet (pun, intended!). :) Adding the face makes them so special for a little girl who is turning 5. Your cardinal and birdhouse card is so beautiful. Especially love the colour combination you've used Marcia! xx
ReplyDeleteBOTH cards are absolutely darling, those faces on the cherries are just the cutest thing!!

Love both of your cards Marcia. Those cherries are darling as is the whole card. I am sure Maddy will love it too. Your cardinal is lovely perched on the blue bird house. Great shading on the cardinal.
ReplyDeleteI love both of these cards, Marcia. Those cherries are the sweetest, and your cardinal looks wonderful perched on that blue birdhouse. What a wonderful Christmas card.
ReplyDeleteIf those cherries aren't covered with Glossy Accents then you did a fabulous job with the shading because they just glow, Marcia. Adding the faces makes this a perfect card for your granddaughter. Did Michele tell you she finally found the blue paper I gave her? What you used worked just as well and I love the way you shaded the cardinal too.
