Altenew Academy Watercolor Class Day 4 - No Line Watercoloring

Hello friends.  Had time to do Day 4 of my homework for the Altenew Academy Watercoloring class I'm taking online.  I would have posted this earlier in the day, but when you don't read the directions carefully, you have to start over...sigh!  The title of Day 4's lesson should have given me a hint with the "No Line" watercoloring, but nope...I just went on my merry way!  It was only when I went back to the class to look at the title before typing up my blog post that I realized I had goofed.  So anyway, I have 2 cards to share with you...one done incorrectly and one done right.  Here's the right way to do "No Line" watercoloring:

The idea is to stamp your image in a color you are going to use to watercolor with rather than black, so that when you are finished, the lines aren't so noticeable.  I really like the way my flower turned out (PTI - Vintage Linens), but not real thrilled with my leaves...wish I had tucked them under the flower further.  Next time...I'm learning!!  Hard to tell in my photo, but the prayers is a die cut from SSS and is done on a matte gold cardstock.  The black and white diagonal strip on the side is washi tape.

Even though my first card wasn't done correctly, I do like how it turned out.  Take a look:

Obviously there's way too many lines in this image, so it was not a good one to use for this lesson, but I still think it turned out pretty.  The image and sentiment are both from WPlus9 (Botanical Bunch & Hand Lettered Hello).  I really liked how the instructor Lydia did a partial cut around her image on her card, and so I did this on both cards and really like the extra detail it brings to a card.

Once again I have to say how much I am enjoying this class and how much I am learning...even though I'm a little slow with directions sometimes!  :0)  If you've ever wanted to learn more about watercoloring, or just brush up on your skills, these videos are fantastic and Lydia is a great teacher.  You can check it all out right here at Altenew Academy.

Thought I'd leave you with one last picture of my constant companion when I'm in my craft room:

Usually Brinkley is right by my desk, but as soon as I take my camera out he heads for the corner...he's a little camera shy!  :0)  I love that he likes to hang out with me though...silly dog!!

Thanks so much for stopping by today...I love it when you do! :0)
