This was a really FUN technique to play with (although a bit messy...my fingers are still orange and pink!!) and one I will definitely use again! My first card was one of those that didn't really translate into what I had envisioned in my mind:
I had this idea of using silhouettes from the latest Catherine Pooler SOA Wild Garden, and while I love how my background turned out (Spiced Marmalade and Picked Raspberries Distress Inks and Copper embossing), the silhouettes just didn't look as striking as what I thought they'd be. It's not a bad looking card...just not what I'd pictured in my head.
My 2nd try I am absolutely in love with! I used a Gina Marie Designs die that I've had for a loooooong time but never used and it worked perfectly with my other half of my background!
So which one do you like best? This was such a great technique to play with and Loll and Bonnie and the rest of the DT have some absolutely GORGEOUS inspiration to get you motivated this month! The challenge is open till the 24th, and you can find all the info you need to play along right HERE.
Thanks so much for stopping by today...I love it when you do!
Both of your cards are so pretty Marcia, but I'm loving the mallard duck card as well. Your idea to create a silhouette using this technique is genius! I've never tried that kind of background before. It looks wonderful!
ReplyDeleteWow--this is gorgeous!! Love the silhouette look, especially the duck scene. I'm off to check out how you did this.
ReplyDeleteI had to do a double take when I saw this, Marcia! I have one almost identical sitting on my desk waiting to be blogged! Great minds! I love both your tissue paper backgrounds! I have to say I'm partial to the loon! Thanks so much for sharing this with us at CAS Mix Up!
ReplyDeleteGorgeous cards, Marcia! The beautiful mixture of the colors enhances the black silhouette. I'll vote for the duck one because I see the stunning background more. Hideko

ReplyDeleteI love the loon one, but gosh your background is striking! Great cards friend!
ReplyDeleteGorgeous background Marcia. I like the second one the best too. It is stunning.
ReplyDeleteThey are both lovely but I do love the loon one best Marcia! the framing die cut really sets off your beautiful tissue background - great job playing around with different pieces - funny how a small change makes such a big difference! Thanks for playing with us in the CAS Mix Up challenge! Julia xx
ReplyDeleteUnlike how you felt about your first card I love both of them!!...Those colors for a sunny background works so well...will have to try the color combo.
ReplyDeleteBoth of these are stunning .... the black looks so dramatic. My favourite has to be the duck though xx
