Betsy made this technique look so easy, and I suppose if I had the stencil from the new Herb Garden kit that Betsy used, it probably would have been a lot easier! I tried to make my own from cardstock, and I think it was too thick to let me do the masking and stamping. Or maybe I'm just too picky and want everything precise! (probably the later!!) But anyway, this is what I came up with:
I love the colors I used and an old favorite stamp set (Simple Sunflower), but wasn't thrilled with the way the left edge stamped and then tried to repair it, and not thrilled with that either. But it is what it is, and I do love that sentiment from Beautiful Berries: Spring that Betsy used on her card too!
At this point, I thought why not just try using the same set as Betsy since I already had it out for the sentiment anyway. I changed up my colors from Betsy's card and I do like the colors, just not the framing again!
There's still time to play and you can check out Betsy's GORGEOUS card and video right HERE.
Thanks so much for stopping by today...I love it when you do!
Marcia, two lovely cards. I have to say the second is my favorite, only because I like that color combination a lot! Yes, definitely mail them out to some lucky recipients!
ReplyDeleteLove the colours on both your cards! I think they turned out beautifully. I wish I had the stencils that Betsy used, too! The imperfect edge is so attractive.
ReplyDeleteMarcia your cards are stunning. I LOVE them both...I am a Kansas girl so the Sunflowers are right up my alley but I am obsessed with Beautiful Berries.
ReplyDeleteOh contraire (-: I think the frame stencil you made is perfect!
ReplyDeleteBoth cards are fine...I had the same trouble with one of my flowers not getting a clean edge cuz the stencil frame was in the way. Oh well, that's the nature of the technique. I think we are all a bit too critical of our own work. >.<
ReplyDeleteMarcia, both cards turned out lovely. Your card with the Beautiful Berries is very well done and I love your colors. Also really love the sunflowers with the vivid colors. Both are great!!
ReplyDeleteBoth cards are fabulous Marcia! Your stencil came out great and I love it used with both the sunflowers and the berries.
ReplyDeleteTwo lovely cards! Great impact with both, but I love the colours in the first!
ReplyDeleteBoth beauties, Marcia. I like your homemade stencil! The shape is perfect for the flowers and berries! Gotta give a nod to your colors on the first card... gorgeous bright sunny and WOW!
ReplyDeletethey both look lovely to me, Marcia!! perfect take on the technique!
ReplyDeleteLOVE both of these,Marcia! The Beautiful Berries set is so pretty for this technique!
ReplyDeleteI "need" to this set in my collection :)
PS: I am looking forward to see what you do with the "Nesting" Stamp/Die Set. There are so many tiny pieces that I have yet to figure out what to do with~~and I have only made 2 (similar) cards so far with it!
Look at you, Marcia! Both cards are awesome but especially like the sunflower variation color combo. Those Beautiful Berries: Spring look so tempting.
ReplyDeleteLove the shape of your stencil & you ended up with 2 beautiful cards, Marcia! I used a thin old piece of packaging acetate for my stencil, but a piece of vellum also works well to get the look Betsy achieved.
ReplyDeleteThese are both beautiful, Marcia! I can't decide which I like best! I think it's a tie!
