Double D Flower Pots Challenge

Hello friends.  Getting in under the wire, just a quick post today to play along with the gals over at the Double D Challenge where they are looking for Flower Pots.

One of my favorite sets from The Greetery (yes, I have MANY favorites!!) that I haven't played with since last year is their BotaniCuts: Geranium.  It's a fun and easy die set that when coupled with their Pretty Pot Die looks just like the pots of Geraniums that I put out in our front porch.

I die cut the pot from kraft cs and inked the edges up a bit and then added the Geraniums (Cherry Cobbler cs) and leaves (Mossy Meadow cs) with a bit of extra inking on them too.  My card size is 3 1/2" x 5 1/2" and I added a piece of kraft dsp (PTI) to the bottom third, and a piece of kraft that I embossed with HB's Dogwood Blooms 3D and lightly went over the top with a white ink cube to make the flowers stand out a bit more.

I added a piece of seam binding ribbon where the two background pieces meet, and then arranged my flower pot and Geraniums on top.  I did add a bit of glitter to the Geraniums for a little sparkle and I'm not sure if I'm liking that addition, but a little late to change it now!  I left a sentiment off as I'm not sure which occasion I'll use this card for.

The DT has some absolutely BEAUTIFUL examples using FLOWER POTS that you can check out right HERE if you'd like to play along.  You'll have to be quick though as this challenge ends Sunday, July 13th @ 8:00PM.

Thanks for stopping by today ... I love it when you do!

No matter what the occasion, Marcia, this will undoubtedly be the PERFECT card for it! I love this die and have one that I cut last time I was there! I'm loving this dark cherry red especially with the kraft - embossed, and plaid!
LOve it!

Beautiful geraniums, Marcia! And while they captivate my eye, so does the plaid pp, the seam binding and the pretty kraft pot -- so beautiful!

OMGOSH..... this is gorgeous, Marcia! I'm loving the deep cheery red you used for the geranium. It's very much like the one on my front porch this year! I just love the way it looks with the marvelous kraft background you've given it. Beautifully done!

I usually have red geraniums on my front steps but didn't get to them this year and I miss them! I LOVE the size of your card and the rounded base! The pot gets so much dimension from the inking and you have a perfect background!

oh my goodness, Marcia, this pot of geraniums is so fabulous, so realistic, and so wonderful. I love the embossed and inked background, the bit of sparkle you added to the petals and the wonderful shading you added to give depth to the flowers, leaves and pot. I love everything about this.

Marcia, your geraniums along with the kraft are fabulous. The depth of color you got is outstanding. Love the inking on the pot too. A perfect marriage with the kraft embossed base and gingham/plaid is always a winner in my book.

Your pot of geraniums is a classic and so beautiful! The inking adds wonderful depth and the soft kraft is a perfect background. It doesn't get much better than a combination of gingham and embossing. You even added ribbon! Beautifully tied, I might add. A gift for the eyes! Marcia, I'm so glad you were able to play along with us at Double D. Thank you!

After you sent me some to color I just had to buy the die for myself. It is such a realistic geranium die and I love the dark color you made yours, Marcia. The background is very creative and so lovely.

Gorgeous card! Love the colors AND that bit of glitter you added to those beautiful flowers. The background is perfect with the geraniums and I like the d.s.p. it adds a little bit of somethin', somethin' that makes it all come together. Cindy H.

What a beautiful pot of geraniums Marcia! I'm pretty sure I have this set as well (we have such matching craft room supplies!) so I'm reminded to get it out - Love the inked embossed background - so beautiful yet subtle along with the pretty gingham!

What a beautiful geranium and perfect card design. The inking around the edges of the petals and leaves brings this beautiful die cut to life. The embossing is wonderful, especially when brought more into view with more amazing inking. The ribbon bow is perfectly adorable and finishes this card off so sweetly. So glad you linked it up in the DD Gallery as well. Thanks so much for playing along!
