Papertrey Ink May 2015 Blog Hop

Hello friends.  It's blog hopping time at Papertrey Ink, and that makes for a happy Monday for me...I love seeing all the creativity everyone comes up with!  Especially since I'll admit this month's inspiration photo threw me for a bit of a loop!

Blog Hop Inspiration

I don't think it was the blocks that threw me so much as it was the colors.  For some reason I was only seeing the bright primary colors, and I don't as a rule stamp much with just primary colors.  However, once I started looking a lot more closely, I was able to see all the different rainbow shades, and came up with this:

When I first started following Papertrey Ink, I decided to start with just a few of their ink colors in the small cubes, and I ended up loving the size of them so much that I've been adding a few to every order.

I've got a third case started, but just took a photo of the two full ones to show you how I store them...they are Tim Holtz cases (meant for the distress ink cubes), and they work perfect to store and see at a glance which color I want to use.  Anyways, this was kind of my jumping off point to make today's card.  I simply used a piece of acetate and stamped each cube color onto it, misted it, and then pressed my cardstock (Papertrey Ink's Linen Cardstock) onto it.  After it dried I stamped one of the images from Doodlie - Do in black ink onto the smaller piece, added my sentiment and a few enamel dots along with a piece of black and white bakers twine.  A little hard to see in my photos, but also colored in some of the dots with my white gel pen.  Not my usual style of card, but I have to say that I like how it turned out. :0)

You can check out all the other entries and play along with this months challenge over on Nichole Heady's Blog.

Thanks so much for stopping by today and have fun hopping! :0)

Super idea to use the cubes to stamp directly! Great card!! (Now, please, for me, can you put that one cube right side up? Lol!)

What fun Marcia! Love the results. Gotta try this. Especially effective how you captured the main image and sentiment within the center frame.

Beautiful Marcia! That's what so nice about these challenges, we get inspired to think outside our comfort zone, and sometimes get lucky and like what create! Nice work!

I LOVE how it turned out, Marcia, truly genius. And I love how you were influenced by your storage system - only a stamper would understand that, hehehehe.

This is a really fun design--very 'out of the box' Speaking of the box, love how you store your little ink cubes. They look quite delicious there--like candy.

Marcia your background is fantastic and thanks for sharing your storage. I have been putting off buying all the 1" cubes but now I need to get them and some more tins!

What a very clever idea using your ink cubes as a background. The overall design of your card is just wonderful, Marcia. Didn't buy any ink cubes yet but love your storage idea.

Oh my gosh, this is gorgeous!
I like PTI ink pad too, I used the bigger ones, but they are just out of stock all the time.

I don't like this card--I adore it! Brilliant design & I'm pinning it! I did the same thing with ordering a couple inks to begin & adding more each time. I really should get the rest since each time my order comes I wish I'd gotten more--LOL!
