Picado Birthday

Hello friends.  I know it's been awhile since I posted anything but DT cards (which were made months and months ago during the Winter), but it's been crazy busy around here and not much time to play!  We moved my 94 year old mom to a retirement home and then had to clean out her house and put it on the market. Thankfully it sold after only 4 days on the market, and I'm hoping I'll have some time to play now. As long as the mojo returns too...

I do have a couple cards to share with you using 2 new products from The Greetery's Pretty Picado stencils and embossing folder.

Isn't this such a fun design?!  I stenciled first using Lilac and Turquoise inks (Gina K) and then used the coordinating embossing folder.  I also used a bunch of the dies from The Greetery's Capsule Basics set to cut out the solid Lilac scalloped card base, and also the 2nd skinny layer that I added foam tape to to add dimension.

Hopefully you can see that raised section better in this close up...between the embossing and the raised section, there is quite a bit of dimension on this card and it's so pretty in real life!!  My sentiment came from an older Greetery set called Arched Sentiments and was stamped and die cut and then added with additional foam tape.  A couple PFS gems finished off this 1st card.

My 2nd card was done in brighter colors that are more like traditional Picado designs that are Mexican tissue paper designs usually used in banners.  I used bright pink, orange, green & turquoise inks to stencil first and then embossed with the embossing folder.  These are larger cards so I used a 5x7 card base (easier to stand up) to add my layers to on this one.

My sentiment on this card also came from an older Greetery set called Opposites Attract and was stamped and die cut and then added with foam tape for more dimension.  A couple clear gems (PFS) finished off this card also.

I am going to add these 2 cards to Darnell's NBUS #86 challenge as the stencils and embossing folder are both new to me and never been used before, and also to the Seize the Birthday challenge using the "Anything Goes" option.

Thanks for stopping by today ... I love it when you do!

Marcia, Marcia, Marcia! Look at all this color, texture, and dimension! I love it! No missing mojo here! Your sentiments sit perfectly in the center of those fabulous designs, too. You've been through a very busy and stressful time. I know it's a huge job. I hope your mom is settling in nicely. Sending hugs.

Oh, my, Marlinda, the Greetery should put your two stunning designs up on their shop website! I am amazed at how different (and each magnificent) they look with the change of colors. If you're like me, now you want to just keep on making more in more different colors! I can imagine it is addictive. Thank you for inspiring everyone to use their NUBS!

I hope your mom enjoys the retirement home ~ I'm ready for one now, lol! But, seriously, that's a big change for everyone and it's not easy cleaning out years of possessions. Thankfully, the memories remain and I'll bet these designs have set your mojo juices flowing! Hugs, Darnell

I hope your mom is doing well in her new surroundings and making friends and keeping a bit of independence with out the burden of a household.

You've chosen beautiful color combinations to make these cards not just standouts but also so very beautiful. Looks to me as if your mojo is right there!

First and foremost, that is a huge undertaking what you just went through, so give yourself lots of grace and time to rest. So happy the house sold for you so quickly. I hope your mom is adapting well to the change as my father certainly didn't. As for your gorgeous cards...there is nothing you make that is not a stand out and these two are definitely that. Love the pretty palettes on both of them. Take care and thanks for linking up with us at Seize the Birthday!

I had no idea you were going through all that, Marcia. Believe me I know how difficult the decision and the work are to take care of our parents. I hope your mother is settling in and enjoying the social aspect of being with others in the retirement home. Your cards are delightful in their colorfulness and design. What a different vibe you get with the color change. Your mojo has not left you. It was just taking a rest as you should be. Take care, my friend.

I just got this embossing folder and wish I'd got the stencils too after seeing this. The colors you chose are so bright and happy! Your mojo hasn't gone anywhere, my friend! So sorry you've had to face all that with your mom. Those are the hardest of times. Hopefully she will be happy in her new "home" and you can relax. XOXO

Sorry you had to go through all that with your mom but hope she is settled in and doing well, and you also. Your cards are beautiful and very colorful. The blue and purple one is my favorite. Take care and have a wonderful day. ((hugs))
