Merry Monday #260

Hello friends.  This week's challenge at Merry Monday is brought to us by Debbie and it's a sketch challenge!

I flipped my design to be horizontal rather than vertical and came up with this:

This challenge was harder for me than I thought it would be, and I think mostly because I had my mind set on using a couple pieces of DSP from SU!'s Merry Little Christmas paper pack, and had to play around with it quite a bit to finally get a design that I actually liked.  I used a Darice Snowflake embossing folder on my layer of Hawaiian Shores cs, then added the DSP, and a couple of die cut snowflakes from PTI's Fancy Flakes.  My sentiment is embossed in silver using PTI's Cutaway Tags: Winter and I finished off the card with some white bakers twine and lots of little rhinestones.

Color Throwdown #463 - World Cardmaking Day

Hello friends.  I'm loosely combining the latest Color Throwdown challenge and World Cardmaking Day with some fabulous die cuts that my dear friend BIRGIT sent me.

And here's what I came up with:

Aren't those just the prettiest die cuts?!  I had so much fun just distressing them up a bit with some orange and kraft colored inks!  Wish I could tell you the manufacturer...Birgit designs for Dies R Us, so I'm thinking that's where they might be from.  I'm hoping that the Color Throwdown team will forgive the bit of green and Ocean Tides I added to their color challenge...just needed that pop of color!  The card base and layer are die cut from PTI's Noted: Scalloped A2 Vertical dies and sentiment from PTI's Mum's The Word stamp set.  You can check out all the great cards from the DT and players in the gallery right HERE.

Make It Monday #298 - Faux Epoxy Embellishments

Hello friends.  Betsy is up with this weeks Make It Monday challenge and shows us how using clear embossing powder can make faux epoxy embellishments to add to our cards.

Little bit of a learning curve on this one for me as I decided to use double sided DSP...once you put several layers of embossing powder on your image, shadows from the backside of the DSP start to show through.  Grrrrr!!  It's not terrible and I might be the only one who notices it, but it's just one of those things that bugs me...but not enough to start over!

I used Canyon Clay and Simply Chartreuse DSP and both of Kay Miller's stamp sets (Spooky Smiles and Stylized Autumn) to create my card.

I did have an "aha!" moment while making these embellishments...my 3 year old granddaughter LOVES stickers, and I got to thinking why not use the dies or fussy cut the shapes from double sided sticker paper and attach to the back of these faux epoxy embellishments to make hand stamped stickers?!  I think my little Addy would get such a kick out of peeling off a backing paper and then sticking these cute little pumpkins somewhere...most likely on herself or her baby brother!  :0)

Tag You're It! Challenge #74

Hello friends.  The Tag You're It challenge has a FABULOUS tag from Bev Beunker as inspiration, and if you LOVE black & white with a pop of red, you're going to LOVE this challenge!!

Is that not the cutest little tag?!!  I love it!!  I had a new die cut to play with that worked out perfectly for this challenge and this is what I came up with:

My husband and I celebrated our 30th wedding anniversary yesterday and I attached this tag to a gift bag filled with dark chocolate...one of his BIG addictions!!  :0)  He's also a BIG music fan, so this tag was perfect for him!  I used Casual Fridays die for the music note and used a really old small heart punch to cut out the red heart to add to the note.  I used PTI's Tag Sale #8 die for my tags and then used a Tim Holtz Bubble stencil to fill in the background of the tag.  The sentiment is from PTI's Stemmed Statements and I finished it off with some red & white bakers twine.

Inspired By All The Little Things #66

Hello friends.  Playing along with this week's challenge over at Inspired By All The Little Things, where the inspiration photo is just lovely!

Love the pink and peach colors in this Dahlia...SOOO pretty!  I used an older SU! stamp called Blooming With Kindness and came up with this:

I used my MISTI for this image and added my pink first and then went back in with my peach ink, misting the stamp before stamping on the cardstock.  I quite liberally spritzed Sheer Shimmer Sparkle Spritz all over the flower, so it's VERY sparkly IRL!

For my top layer I die cut off center a Lil Inker's Stitched Circle die and then added foam behind the layer to give some dimension over the flower.  My sentiment is embossed in white on a black banner and is from PTI's Just Desserts.  A few iridescent sequins and some Calypso Coral bakers twine (SU!) finished up my card.

CAS Watercolour October 2017 - FALL LEAVES

Hello friends.  I am so honored to be Guest Designing for this month's challenge at CAS Watercolour! 

And what better month for me to Guest Design as they are looking for FALL LEAVES, and as you can probably already tell from my blog design, I love leaves!!

And here is what I came up with:

 I used my Gansai Tambi watercolours in reds, oranges, & yellows for my background and while still wet, I sprinkled some Crimson Brusho's to add a little more movement.  Once dry I added a die cut leaf (PTI's - Enclosed: Leaf Stamp Set) that I partially embossed with copper, and then framed with a white stitched die cut frame.  I attached this to a white card base and then added a sentiment banner from Clearly Besotted's Autumn Flowers.

For this challenge I watercoloured, embossed, die cut, and stamped.

Merry Monday #259 - A Christmas Tree

Hello friends.  It's time for a new challenge at Merry Monday, and our hostess Deanne this week would like to see a CHRISTMAS TREE on your cards.

As much as I love my inside Christmas tree, one of my most favorite things about Christmas is the outdoor Christmas lights and I love going for drives during December to see all the pretty lights.  For that reason I went with an outdoor Christmas tree and used one of my favorite dies by Tim Holtz called Woodlands Thinlits.  Take a look:

I started by creating a water colored background using Ocean Tides and Tropical Teal inks and then stamped my sentiment from Penny Black called Yuletide Wishes a little off center.  Before adhering my tree die cut I splattered it with white acrylic paint and gold from my Gansai Tambi water colors.  A pretty simple card but I'm very happy with the way it turned out!
