CAS Christmas March 2018 - #2

Hello friends.  Playing with CAS Christmas AGAIN, because I love making Christmas cards!!

My CAS card uses scraps of papers that I had done with Lindy's Magicals (have I mentioned before how much I LOVE these?!!) and a couple new dies.

 
I so wish I could capture the shimmer and shine these Magicals have...mind blowing in my humble opinion!!  The "be merry" die was a birthday gift from a dear friend and is made by Cut PLORATIONS (a STAMPlorations product) and the Holly die I'm guessing at Poppystamps (I think it was one of Colleen's dies that she brought to our crafting weekend at the Craft House in Kansas).  The dry embossing around my card is from the Stately embossing folder by Craft Concepts.

Create Along With Us - March 2018

Hello friends.  Playing along with the Create Along With Us challenge this month over at Papertrey Ink, where we get the opportunity to CASE a card by one of the designers that has caught our eye.  This month I loved what Ashley Cannon Newell did with the new Corner Adorner and Penned Elegance Alphabet sets...CAS beauty and elegance!!

Here's what I came up with:

I used the die cut frame from the Don't Forget To Write set and my sentiment is from the Penned Elegance set.  The flowers are of course from the Farmer's Market Florals that I just can't seem to get enough of!  I also added strips of the True Black stripes from the Pattern Pack like Ashley did to ground the framed sentiment.  A few sequins and some black and white bakers twine finished off my card.

Merry Monday #281 - A FUN Inspiration Photo

Hello friends.  This week's Merry Monday challenge is being hosted by Kim and she has a FUN inspiration photo to inspire you this week.

How can you not be inspired by a photo of a cup/mug of yummy hot cocoa like this?!  I used a FUN image from Darcie's Stamps called Cookies & Cocoa to come up with this festive card.

 Isn't that just the cutest little mug?!!  I colored the image with my Copics, and then after I finished I realized that that's probably whipped cream on top of the mug and I should have colored it a LOT lighter!  Oh well, we'll just pretend it chocolate flavored whipped cream...yummmmm!!  I die cut the image with an oval shaped Gina Marie Designs die, and then added it to a card base that I added a couple different DSP's from SU!'s Fresh Prints and also a vellum and Real Red snowflake from PTI's Fancy Flakes dies.  I finished off this card some white bakers twine (SU!) and a small tag from PTI's Tiny Tags.

CAS Mix Up March 2018 - Using Acetate

Hello friends.  Playing with this month's challenge over at CAS Mix Up, where they want us to incorporate acetate into our cards.

Here's what I came up with (after a few tries!)

I used Raspberry, Watermelon, & Purple Twilight AL inks on glossy cardstock with blending solution on a felt pad, and then covered that layer with a piece of acetate that I dry embossed with a SU! embossing folder called Decorative Dots.  Here's a closer up where you can see some of the dots:

It looks SO cool IRL!!  I added a plain white layer that I had die cut with PTI's Mighty Bloom cover plate die over the top of the acetate and then adhered to a white card base.  A simple embossed sentiment from PTI's Keep It Simple: Birthday on a strip of black cardstock finished off my card.  (smooshing with AL inks, acetate, dry embossing, heat embossing and die cutting)

I'm glad I persevered using acetate as I really like the card I came up with, but I will try some more using acetate with heat embossing and AL inks as I really like the look!  My first and 2nd tries were complete disasters, but I did learn a lot through the process.  Make sure you check out all the beauties from the DT and watch the videos with the links provided on their site too for more info on how to achieve different looks using acetate...lots of great ideas!  You can check it all out right HERE.

Make It Monday #314 - Color Wheel Cards

Hello friends.  This weeks Make It Monday challenge has Lexi Daly showing how to make COLOR WHEEL cards!  You can check out her video and lovely card right HERE.

I didn't stray too far from Lexi's card as I'm a little short on time this week, and also her card is just so darn perfect that I wanted to make one of my own!!  I hadn't had a chance to use my Shape Shifters: Circle die yet, and after seeing Lexi use it for her card, it was also the perfect starting point for my card!  The rest came very easily...I just switched up my flowers to Doodlie-Do!

I did the ROYGBIV thing using Raspberry Fizz (instead of Pure Poppy), Orange Zest, Bright Buttercup, Green Parakeet, Hawaiian Shores, & Amethyst Allure inks with my Aqua Painter after embossing the flowers and leaves in white.  I arranged them around my sentiment (Winter Woods) and then added some True Black Striped Pattern Paper to the bottom of my card and finished with a few iridescent sequins and some black bakers twine.  Easy peasy and a fun little rainbow card!

Inspired By All The Little Things #81

Hello friends.  Playing along at Inspired By All The Little Things today, and the inspiration photo is just lovely!!

I love the lacey like flowers and the glass containers with the vintage labels...sweet, sweet photo!!  Here's what I came up with:

I used a Elizabeth Craft Designs die (1321 - Dandelion Fluff) for my flowers and inked up the stems with Mossy Meadow ink and the flower part with a touch of Smokey Slate ink and quite a bit of Sheer Shimmer Sparkle Spritz, so IRL it really sparkles!!  My background is a Heidi Swapp one with Soft Suede ink and I also used the ink for my sentiment label from PTI's Garden Of Faith Sentiments.  The little jar is from PTI also and embossed in white on vellum with some Stormy Sea distress ink on the backside.  I didn't add anything else as it seemed busy enough with the background and all the sparkle on the flowers.  (I feel like I should be calling them dandelions since that is what the die is called, but dandelions are weeds and these are too pretty to be called weeds!  So for the sake of my card, they're going to be flowers!!)

Merry Monday #280 - Inspiration Photo

Hello friends.  This week's challenge at Merry Monday is being hosted by Kelly, and she has a wonderful inspiration photo to inspire you this week!

Isn't that just a lovely table setting?!  I was inspired by the stars, the elegance, the shine from the candles, and the night time color outside the windows, and came up with this card using an older SU! set called The Sounding Joy (retired).

I stamped and embossed the script star and then die cut the star shape from a Gina Marie Designs die.  I used gold mirror cardstock to die cut a larger star to put behind the stamped star and also die cut a few smaller stars from gold too.  My DSP is from SU!'s Merry Music and I also layered a piece of gold mirror cardstock behind that and then adhered to a white card base.  My "joy" die cut is from WPlus9's Hand Lettered Holidays and the stars were pop dotted for some dimension.  A simple piece of black bakers twine (SU!) finished off my card.
