Color Hues Challenge #100 - BLUE & PURPLE

Hello friends and Happy December!  Nancy is our sweet hostess this time around at Color Hues and she would like to see BLUE & PURPLE on our cards.  Because of December being a busy, busy month for most of us, this challenge will run for the whole month (till Dec. 29th), giving you all some extra time to play along.  SPECIAL NOTE: Because this is our 100th challenge, Nancy decided a prize was in order and will be giving away a box of Spellbinder goodies (some new & some used once)!  Nancy will choose one winner and 3 runner ups as usual, and then put all 4 names into a hat to draw the winner of the prize box.  Even more reason to play along this month, right?!!  So without further ado, let's get to it!!

My first thought for this color duo was snowflakes, but then my brain went in a totally different direction (happens often!!) and I ended up making a card using an older set from The Greetery.  Take a look...

I stamped and stenciled my white panel with PFS's Slumber & Blue Jay blue inks and SU!'s Highland Heather ink with The Greetery's Winterberry Bouquet and then ran the whole panel through with The Greetery's Pierced Plaid coverplate die to add some interest to the background.

I die cut The Greetery's Cathedral Window die 3 times from white cardstock and glued that over the center of my panel before adding my JOY die cut (PTI's Bold Borders: Flurries) from silver glitter cs.  I finished with a few Disco Ball sequins (Gina K) and some PFS Amethyst Glitter Drops.

This card was actually my 2nd card as my 1st card didn't exactly come out with the colors I thought they should have.  I used Seaside Spray and Misty Moonlight for my blue leaves and they came out like this...

It came out pretty but definitely not the blue shades I was expecting...more green, don't ya think??  I finished it anyway because I was still in need of Christmas cards, and used The Greetery's JOY die (from the same silver glitter cs as my card up above) and SSS's Icy Snowflake embossing folder for the background.  So there you have my twofer for the month!

The DT has some absolutely beautiful cards using BLUE & PURPLE to inspire you this month, so check it all out right HERE and then play along with us.  Remember that this challenge is open for the whole month of December (Sunday, Dec. 29th @ 9:00AM) and that there is a big prize to be given away at the end.  Wishing you all the Happiest of Holidays and many blessings for the New Year!  See YOU in the gallery!!

Thanks for stopping by today ... I love it when you do!

Both of your cards are gorgeous, Marcia but I think you made the right choice of card to feature for the challenge. This is the issue I always have with blue inks - they always look right on the cover/cap but don't end up true blue. Anywho - PFS wins the day! LOve that cathedral window die so much. I bought it thinking we'd make a cathedral for our paper village... hasn't happened yet!

I like the blue in both cards, Marcia! The cathedral window over the bouquet is stunning and I love the pierced background on the first and embossing on the second. The glitter Joy on each card looks like a beautiful piece of jewelry! Two awesome cards using these colors, my friend!

Two fabulous ways to use that stamp, Marcia. I see nothing wrong with the blue on the second card but if making a second one makes you happy then that's all that matters. The glitter sentiments add to the festive nature of your cards.

Both of your cards are gorgeous and either one would have worked for the challenge, but I'm glad you made two because it's twice the inspiration using those colors. Love the sparkling JOY and the backgrounds for both cards. Pure loveliness!
