Color Hues #117 - ORANGE & GREEN

Hello friends.  Welcome to September and another challenge here at Color Hues.  Our hostess for the next two weeks is the sweet Karen and she has chosen the color pairing of ORANGE & GREEN.

My first thought was Halloween with this color pairing, but I can't seem to stay on top of birthday cards this year, so I pulled out an oldie but a goody stencil from PTI called Wild Blooms and a WF Postage Collage Die and came up with this...

I stenciled first with shades of orange and green and then used the postage die to make it look like a collection of stamps.  I love experimenting with stamps and stencils that are not specifically meant for the postage collage dies, but come out so cool looking anyways!  After stamping the postage amounts and cancellation marks in each section, I backed the panel with a piece of Certainly Celery cs (SU! - retired) and then added both layers to a white card base.

To finish my card, I hot foiled my sentiment in copper (to kind of go with the orange theme), and then added a die cut postage circle, baker's twine, Disco Ball sequins (Gina K) and a small vellum butterfly from Poppystamps Butterfly Button dies.

We (the DT and our Special GD Lisa K.) have some beautiful and fun examples to share with you for inspiration using these 2 great colors, and you can check them all out right HERE.  We can't wait to see what YOU come up with using these two colors!  This challenge is open till Sunday, Sept. 14th @ 9:00AM.

Thanks for stopping by today ... I love it when you do!

Color Hues #116 - BLUE & RED

Hello friends.  Hard to believe it's the middle of August already, isn't it?!  Hope you've all been having a great Summer...I have, but I could definitely do with a bit less heat and humidity!  It is better than snow though, so you won't hear me complain anymore!

We do have a new challenge for you here at Color Hues, and our sweet hostess Julie B. has chosen the color pairing of BLUE & RED.

Besides Christmas cards, I've been trying to ramp up my stash of birthday cards, and especially birthday cards that are not floral and can be gender neutral.  I think this one qualifies...

I know I use this layout and The Greetery's Delightful Digits Die quite frequently, but it works so perfectly for birthdays and guys and kids, so I just keep using it and changing up a few things here and there!  I used The Greetery's Glow Hot Foil plate to create the fireworks on the background of the Crimped Circle Die (also The Greetery) before adding the sweet bunny from CCC and Anita Jeram's Sundae Funday stamp which was colored with Copics.

My "celebrate" comes from The Greetery's Birthday Blooms and I thought it was quite fitting with the foiled fireworks.  I finished with a few red gems (PFS).

We have lots of wonderful cards to share with you from the DT and our Special GD Leslie that you can check out right HERE for inspiration, so check it out and play along with us.  This challenge is open till Friday, Aug. 29th @ 9:00AM and we can't wait to see YOU in the gallery!!

Thanks for stopping by today ... I love it when you do!

Color Hues #115 - PINK & GREY

Hello friends.  Happy August and welcome to another challenge here at Color Hues where our sweet hostess Carol has chosen the color pairing of PINK & GREY for the next two weeks.

I love this color pairing and went back to one of my first purchases at PFS (years ago!) and brought out the Daisy Wreath to play with.  Take a look...

I foiled the outline of the wreath with the coordinating foil plate from the Daisy Wreath set using SB's Speckled Prism Foil and then used the matching stencils to add my pinks and greys.  My background was also stenciled using PFS's Simple Plaid Stencil and grey ink.

I finished with an embossed sentiment on grey cs using Gina K's All At Once Greetings, a couple pink gemstones, and a piece of white & silver baker's twine.

The DT and our Special GD Arlene have some awesome cards to share with you for inspiration, and you can check them all out right HERE.  This challenge is open till Thursday, Aug. 14th @ 9:00AM.

Color Hues #114 - YELLOW & GREEN

Hello friends.  Hard to believe the Summer is half over already, isn't it?!  Been a HOT one in my neck of the woods, and while I am ready for some cooler temps, I'm not ready for Summer to be over!  Our sweet hostess Bonnie has chosen a wonderful summer pairing here at Color Hues and would like to see YELLOW & GREEN on our cards.

My first thought was florals, so that's what I went with using an older stencil from The Ton called Wild Spray Stencil.  Take a look...

It's just a small stencil that fits so perfectly in the corner of your card and leaves plenty of "white space" for a CAS card.  Once I finished stenciling, I used SU!'s Subtle EF to give a little texture to the panel and then mounted it to a black layer and a white card base.

My sentiment is from Honey Bee's Bitty Buzzwords stamps and dies, and then I finished with just a few Gina K Disco Ball Sequins.

The DT and our Special GD Von Marie have some BEAUTIFUL inspiration for you right HERE, so check it out and play along with us!  This challenge is open till Tuesday, July 29th @ 9:00AM.

Thanks for stopping by today ... I love it when you do!

Color Hues #113 - RED & WHITE

Hello friends.  Happy July and hoping you're all having a great Summer so far?!!  It's time for a new challenge here at Color Hues, and our sweet hostess Tracey has chosen the color pairing of RED & WHITE.

My first thought was to do something patriotic in honor of July 4th, but I am so far behind on my Christmas card stash that I thought these colors would be perfect and help me get crackin' again!  So here's my very simple Christmas card...

I started by embossing in gold Taylored Expressions Seasonal Sprig and then coloring in the berries with my Copics (R24, R37, & R39).  Next I used WOS on all the leaves and IRL this card really sparkles and shines between the embossing and the WOS.  The sentiment was embossed in gold also and is one of the many sentiments that come with this Seasonal Sprig stamp set.

To finish off this card I added a frame (PTI's Pierced Frames Dies) in Cherry Cobbler and also added a few Cherry Cobbler enamel dots.

The DT and our Special GD Kim have a lot of wonderful inspiration for you that you can find right HERE, so check it out and play along with us.  We can't wait to see the gallery flooded with RED & WHITE creations!  Remember that this is a Color Hues challenge, so different shades of red & white are fine and neutrals also.  And just FYI...green is NOT a neutral!  This challenge is open till Monday, July 14th @ 9:00AM.

Thanks for stopping by today ... I love it when you do!

Color Hues #112 - Peach & Cobalt

Hello friends.  Time for a new challenge here at Color Hues, and our sweet hostess Stef would like to see Cobalt & Peach on our cards.

Isn't that such a pretty pairing?!  I loved working with it and used an older PB set (country charisma) to come up with this card...

I colored the pitcher and florals with my Copics and then die cut with the coordinating dies.  I used PB's posted stamp and die to make a space for my pitcher and florals to rest on and also added a bit of blue blending to the background of the posted layer.  I adhered everything to a white card base that I embossed using SU!'s Subtle embossing folder.

The post sentiment stamp was a part of the posted stamp set and I added foam tape behind it for a bit of dimension.  To finish this card I added WOS to the peach colored blooms and a few peach colored gems (SU!).

We have lots of beautiful inspiration for you from the DT and our Special GD Teresa S. to get you started and you can find them all right HERE.  This challenge is open till Sunday, June 29th @ 9:00AM.  We look forward to seeing YOU in the gallery!

Color Hues Challenge #111 - CORAL & GREEN

Hello friends.  Time for a new challenge here at Color Hues and our hostess Sheri has chosen the color pairing of CORAL & GREEN.

I love the color CORAL, and GREEN goes perfectly with it...especially for flowers!!  Here's what I came up with using a new PB stamp called delicate blooms.

This stamp is red rubber, so it was perfect to use the faux water coloring technique on. To do this technique you simply use water based markers (NOT copics!) directly on the red rubber, mist with water and then stamp!  I used Calypso Coral and Garden Green inks (SU!).

Once my panel was dry I used Gina K's Master Layouts #1 dies to cut out the larger and smaller rectangle and then used the little bit larger dies to cut the green layers.  I love using Gina's Master Layout dies as you get perfect layers every time!!  Before adhering the smaller rectangle down, I wrapped a piece of rarely used ribbon (SU!) with sparkles on it for a little bling, and then finished with a SB's Press Plate (A Little Message Sentiments) sentiment. A pretty simple CAS card and I liked it so much I made two more (using different colors) to have enough birthday cards to get me through this month.

Sheri and the DT (and our Special GD Barbara too!) have some wonderful inspiration for you using this color pairing, so check it all out right HERE and play along with us!  This challenge is open till Saturday, June 14th @ 9:00AM.

Color Hues Challenge #110 - PINK & PLUM

Hello friends.  Time for a new challenge here at Color Hues and our sweet hostess Karen has chosen the color pairing of PINK & PLUM to work with for the next two weeks.

I have absolutely fallen in LOVE with this color combo and had so much fun playing with it!  Here's what I came up with...

I used Gina K's Bubblegum Pink and Plum Punch inks and Taylored Expressions Boho Botanicals stencils to come up with this simple but pretty get well card.  When I ordered this stencil set, I also ordered the Foil It Boho Botanicals so that I could step the card up another notch with the sparkling silver foil...this card sparkles like crazy in real life!!  I also used a light gray ink for the leaves and stems so the only color is the pink & plum on the card.

I layered my stenciled panel with black and then added both to a white card base.  The sentiment strip is embossed using Gina K's All At Once Greetings with foam tape underneath for a bit of dimension.

The DT and our Special GD have some absolutely BEAUTIFUL inspiration to get you started and you can check that all out right HERE...we can't wait to see what you come up with using these 2 colors!  This challenge is open till Thursday, May 29th @ 9:00AM.

Color Hues Challenge # 109 - BLUE & YELLOW

Hello friends.  Time for a new challenge here at Color Hues and I am the hostess for the next 2 weeks and have chosen the color pairing of BLUE & YELLOW.

Hard to believe there was a time in my life where I wasn't too thrilled with the color blue, but the past couple years have changed my tune and I just love BLUE paired with YELLOW!  I hope you'll all have fun with this color pairing and remember too that any hue of BLUE or YELLOW works for this challenge.

I used an older PTI set called Prominent Petals and Night of Navy, Boho Blue, Seaside Spray, Mango Melody & Daffodill Delight inks (all SU!) to create this card...

I stamped the outlines of the flowers and leaves in Night of Navy and then filled in with the lighter blues.  There is also a stamp to add dots to the flowers and I used white pigment ink to do that...I love the playful look the dots give!  I left the leaves white and added the yellow dots that are part of this stamp set (the dots have WOS and then a layer of glossy accents over the top of them and foam tape underneath for added dimension.

For my white on white background I used PTI's Bold Borders: Polka Dots Die, which also comes with the "hugs" die which I die cut 3 times from Night of Navy cardstock and adhered towards the bottom.

Because I still had everything laying out, I decided to do a bit bolder card using Night of Navy for the card base and the polka dots die.

When I was looking for a flower stamp to use on this card, I ran across an Altenew/PFS collaboration set called Celebrate Us that I had never used and who knows how long I've had it?!  Back of the package says 2020...I think I might have too many stamps!  But anyway, I used the same SU! inks that I used on my first card for the flower and added it with foam tape to the card base.  The sentiment was embossed in white from PTI's Choose Joy stamp set.

This was a pretty simple card to make and I like how it turned out, but I still like my first card best!  How about you??

The DT and our Special GD Nance all have wonderful inspiration to share with you right HERE, so check it out and play along with us...we'd love to see all of YOU in our gallery!!  This challenge is open till Wednesday, May 14th @ 9:00AM.

Color Hues Challenge #108 - LILAC & AQUA

Hello friends.  Welcome back to another challenge, and here at Color Hues, our sweet hostess Nancy would like us to play with LILAC & AQUA.

Isn't this such a pretty color combination?!!  Totally makes me think Spring and Easter, and I went with Easter.  Here's what I came up with...

I fell in LOVE with the Floral Butterfly Bouquets ef and the sweet little Peeking Lamb die from SSS and made an Easter card for my youngest granddaughter.  I used Aqua Mist cs (PTI) for the background panel that I embossed, and then die cut a small circle opening in which to place the lamb.  I used Lilac Grace cs (PTI) for the lambs ears and also the skinny frame (A2 Thin Frame Dies by Kristina Werner) and sentiment (SSS's Easter).

I added packing tape over the Lilac Grace cs before die cutting the Easter sentiment to give it that shiny look...you sure have me hooked on this technique Leslie!!  I finished with a few no hole sequins in aqua and called it good.

The DT and our Special GD have some FABULOUS inspiration to get you started, so check it all out right HERE and then play along with us!  We'd love to see YOU in the gallery!!  This challenge is open till Tuesday, April 29th @ 9:00AM.

Color Hues Challenge #107 - ORANGE & TEAL

Hello friends.  Welcome to April and another Color Hues ChallengeJules is our hostess for the next two weeks and she would like us to use ORANGE & TEAL on our cards.

I had fun with this color combo and made a birthday card for my oldest grandson who will be 8 in May, and am congratulating myself for getting a birthday card done so far in advance!  Haha! (Usually it's a day or two only ahead, and sometimes even late!!)  But anyway, here's what I came up with...

My card base and #8 are from Tropical Teal cs (Gina K), but my photos are showing up more blue than teal...trust me, there's a lot more green in the cs than is showing up!!  I started with a white panel that I ink blended Tropical Teal & Tangerine Twist on and then die cut it with The Greetery's Bold Numbers Die and attached it to my Tropical Teal card base.  Next I stamped and colored with my Copics the Viking image from MFT stamps and fussy cut him out before attaching him to a Crimped Circle Die in Tropical Teal cs.

I die cut a smaller Crimped Circle Die in Pumpkin Pie cs (SU!) and added the #8 die cut from the Tropical Teal (number is also from The Greetery). Both the number and the Viking have foam tape behind them for a little dimension.  As much as I wanted to add some bling, I held myself back and only added one teal gem to the center of his shield.

Now it's your turn and we'd love to see what YOU come up with using this color combo in our gallery!  Check out what our Special GD Renate and DT have come up with to inspire you right HERE and then play along with us!  This challenge is open till Monday, April 14th @ 9:00AM.

Thanks for stopping by today ... I love it when you do!

Color Huess Challenge #106 - Lemon & Lime

Hello friends.  It's time for a new challenge here at Color Hues and our sweet hostess Julie has chosen LEMON & LIME as the colors to work with for the next two weeks.

Aren't those just the brightest colors as we get closer to welcoming Spring (I hope!!!)?  I went quite literally with the colors as I had a new stencil set from my sweet friend Birgit that sent me a box full of sunshine for my birthday last month!  Here's what I came up with using TCW's Layered Lemon Branch Stencil...

Very simple but I love the way it turned out.  I used yellow and a bit of orange for the lemons and bright green for the leaves.  A bit of light turquoise was used for the flowers.  I used Gina K's ML#4 to die cut the scalloped and stitched layer and added it to a piece of Harvest Gold Bitty Big DSP from PTI and also a strip of Green Parakeet Bitty Big DSP from PTI, and then attached both to a white card base.

I finished very simply with a bold sentiment from The Greetery's Opposites Attract (die cut 3 times for dimension) and a few lemon slices (Dress My Craft - Lemon Sprinkle Mix) that was also a part of my birthday gift from Birgit.  Now to just get the thank you written and sent off for all the wonderful gifts Birgit included in my birthday box of sunshine!!

The DT and our special GD have some wonderful inspiration to get your juices flowing with this color combo, so check it all out right HERE and play along with us!  This challenge is open till Saturday, March 29th @ 9:00AM.

Thanks for stopping by today ... I love it when you do!
