I received some new dies from my sweet friend Birgit for Christmas and figured this color pairing would be the perfect time to try them out! Here's what I came up with...
Originally, I had planned on using black (neutral) for only the leaves, but after trying the layered arch die cuts (Spellbinders Essential Arches) in different combos of red & pink, none of them had the look I was going for, so a bit more black on this card than I had intended, but I like the way it came out! l stamped my background first using an older SU! background stamp called Script and then arranged my die cut floral pieces (Spellbinders Gorgeous You Florals) over the script.
My sentiment was cut from the same red (SU! Real Red) as the blooms using Memory Box's Happy Birthday Posh Script die. I finished with a bit of WOS on the flower centers and also added a few Disco Ball sequins (Gina K). Pretty simple but I love the card being shaped and the red & pink pairing is so pretty together with the dramatic black neutral.
As always, lots of beautiful inspiration from the rest of the DT and also our Special GD JoAnn, and you can find it all right HERE. This challenge is open till Saturday, Feb. 14th @ 9:00AM.
Thanks for stopping by today ... I love it when you do!

You made great use of that gift from your friend. I love the pink & red blooms with the pop of the black leaves. The shaped card with those dies makes for a fabulous card Marcia.
I love this a LOT, Marcia! The black makes those flowers all the more fabulous. The script background is perfection, too! What a great die set from a good friend!
This is GORGEOUS, Marcia! I love the pink and red with the bold, dramatic black backdrop! Wow, this is wonderful
Beautiful card Marcia! I LOVE that you've used black for the leaves and the arch. It adds some drama to your card and really sets off the red and pink. What a lovely gift from a lovely friend. :) xx
The extra black added elegance and drama for a fantastic card, Marcia! I'm impressed with how straight the background script turned out and those pretty flowers! An awesome card, my friend! I feel a CASE coming on!
Cool gift Marcia and it looks very dramatic with the bold black arch frame. Thanks for making my colour choice shine! :)
Your card is striking. All the elements seem sort of crowded yet a very pleasing effect.
Your floral dies are gorgeous, and I'm loving the arched card design! The printed background works wonderfully with the large die cut sentiment. One terrific design!
I just love arch shaped cards, Marcia, and this one is just beautiful. You have also used one of my favorite floral dies of all time. The script background really elevated this pretty card even more so. Take care and try and stay warm up there.
The shaped card takes your card from ordinary to extraordinary, Marcia. The black frame shows off the beautiful flowers and the script stamp adds wonderful detail.
Oooh, this is gorgeous! The black makes is bold and the pink and red really pop. Such a pretty card!!
Marsha, what beautiful card! I have the same arches set from spellbinders and I'm always looking for different ways to use it. I love how you combined the colours with the black as the largest and then topped them with those beautiful florals! A treat as always! xo
What a stunning card. I love the black outline and your use of the black on the leaves. Such beautiful design.
Marcia, using the black added such great drama and flair to an already gorgeous, shaped card. Those flowers are so pretty and I still have the Script stamp too (I think - I just sold oodles of old stamps). It adds even more elegance. You created a beauty for this challenge, my dear!!
Echoing the others: gorgeous! Your blooms make me smile; perfect for red and pink!
