Color Hues #129 - PURPLE & MARIGOLD

Hello friends.  Welcome to another Color Hues Challenge where I am the hostess this time, and I would like to celebrate Spring with the colors of PURPLE & MARIGOLD!

These colors remind me of the first flowers that come up in my front garden...CROCUS!!  I never planted them, but they just showed up one year and have come back every year since!  They were definitely a welcome gift and I so enjoy that first POP of color each Spring!

I actually have a twofer for you first...both basically the same with the colors reversed.

I used The Greetery's BotaniCuts: Crocus dies and die cut 4 of the smallest Crocus and 2 of the medium size Crocus from white cs and then ink blended them with Highland Heather & Mango Melody inks from SU!.

Although it's a little hard to see, I stenciled the backgrounds using stencils from PTI's Pro Stamper's Box: March and then embossed the background with Altenew's Organic Linen ef before adding to a Mango Melody card base.  The little frame was die cut 3 times for some dimension and then glued to stenciled background. The 3 Crocus were then added along with a SB's pressplate sentiment and a few gems.

And here's the reverse one using more Highland Heather.  I love the way these both turned out so CAS and SPRING like!

And because I was on a roll with these colors, I have a 3rd card for you...

I apologize that my light wasn't so great the day I took this photo, but I think you can get the gist of it.  I had 5 of the small Crocus left over from the first 2 cards and a new die from WF (Basketful Base Die) that I put together and then filled with the Crocus. My white embossed background uses SSS's Springtime Bunnies ef.  The polka dotted dsp for the basket liner is from PTI.

So there you have my 3 Spring-y cards using PURPLE & MARIGOLD for inspiration and the DT and our Special GD Chris have even more that you can check out right HERE.  We can't wait to see what YOU come up with to brighten up our gallery!! Remember to only use these 2 colors (or hues of these colors), and of course neutrals are acceptable too...most importantly though, just have FUN!!  This challenge is open till Sunday, March 29th @ 9:00AM.

Thanks for stopping by today ... I love it when you do!

A trio of gorgeous crocus cards, Marcia, featuring a colour combination that I quite enjoyed playing with. We have wild crocuses that bloom along the trails we walk with Lily; always a joy to see their bursts of colour.

That's amazing they popped up on their own. Mine have died out over the years, but maybe they'll come back someday. These are the perfect crocus colors and such pretty cards -- times three! Your basket die is so cute! Love the colors you chose for the challenge!

Such a bright and cheerful set of cards! The crocus dies paired with the purple and marigold inks really capture the freshness of spring, and I love how you created three different looks with the same color inspiration. www.melodyjacob.com

I LOVE your beautiful crocuses, Marcia! I have been drooling over them on our site and they inspired me to get mine out! That basket with the polka-dot liner is amazing too! Great color choice, my friend!

We saw the prettiest patch of crocus on our walk yesterday! It was 74 then... 20 today ~ YIKES!! Love your pretty paper versions too, Marcia!

You really went to town with these colors (love them!) and all three of your cards are lovely. I am partial to the first one. I love the subtle stenciled background, and the embossing folder adds such wonderful texture. I think you've sent me off the "store" once again for that linen embossing folder! Thanks for such a fun color combination!

It definitely looks like Spring on your blog today, Marcia. Those lovely framed crocuses peeking their heads up in front of the stenciling are only enhanced by the embossed background.

Beautiful x 3! Your spring crocus are perfect in the colors you've chosen. We used to have crocus but they've all disappeared over the years. Daryl and I were just talking the other day that we should get some bulbs to enjoy next spring. For now, I'll enjoy your trio of pretties.

Well, aren't you the over achiever for this challenge. I mean it is yours so who am I to judge. LOL These are just terrific. I certainly hope Spring is right around the corner for you, Marcia. I really enjoyed this combo, thanks for that. I apologize for my late comment, Dave and I have been in Arizona and just got back.

WOW!! All these cards are STUNNING!! I love the layers on all cards. I am so looking forward to spring. In the Northeast, we get a couple days of cold, a couple days of warmer weather and then cold again. The crocuses are out in some places now BUT the cold has put them in danger!!

Never thought of crocus, but niw I see why you picked this color combo! Absolutely love the products you used for these beautiful cards! I especially love the Easter card and may NEED the basket! Hoping to get something made for your challenge!

Marcia, these colors are so pretty together and absolutely perfect for your crocus! Love the design you created, especially with the yellow stenciling in the background. We don't have crocus in our flower beds here in Idaho (yet!) but loads of grape hyacinth are our first harbingers of spring. I hope you get some warm Spring-like weather soon!

Love the crocus in the pretty frame with the stenciling behind, Marcia - great texture with the embossing too! I have to get this set out - I think I've only used it once... UGH! Wonderful bunny embossing on your sweet basket card again with the pretty crocus! Julia xx

Marcia you definitely challenged me with this colour combination but it was such a fun challenge, thank you! Your crocus are beautiful, that is a die set I might have to stop putting off and get it! I love how you arranged you little clusters! I can't wait to see some pop up, but we have a heap of snow that needs to melt first! Hugs!
