Little Hedgie

Hello friends.  Hedgehogs seem to be a big thing right now, and I guess I'm not immune to their cuteness either...found a Hedgie die and HAD to have it!  And look at what cuteness came out of it:

Is he not the cutest, or what?!!!  He comes from a Gina Marie Designs die and a scrap of kraft cardstock that was sponged with some Walnut Stain distress ink, a black Nuvo Crystal Drop for the eye, and a smudge of pink chalk on his cheek.  I added a strip of gingham at the bottom of my card base, and then worked upward to create my little scene with grass (Impression Obsession die), trees (MFT's Die-Namics), and clouds (Memory Box).   My "Sending" die cut is from PTI's Wet Paint III die collection.  I should have taken a picture of the inside where I stamped "Hugs...because you can never have too many" and also another strip of the gingham at the bottom, but forgot...old age and all, ya know!  :0)

I'm linking my little Hedgie up to the following 2 challenges:

HLS July: Anything Goes With Dies   Some really cute cards over at Happy Little Stampers, so check them out and play along this month!

Double D Challenge: Simply Gingham  5 more days left to play along with this challenge, and if you like gingham, you're going to LOVE all the inspiration going on over there!

July 2016 CAS Mix Up Challenge

Hello friends.  I spent the weekend playing around with an old and beloved stamp from Endless Creations called Weed Patch.  (You know they're old when they're red rubber and mounted to a wooden block!!)  It's a perfect stamp for this month's challenge over at CAS Mix Up where using markers is the focus.  I simply used some of my SU! markers directly to the stamp, misted with water, and then stamped on mixed media paper (thanks Loll!).  I came up with 3 cards...take a look:

I think the 1st card is the most CAS, but I really like the 2 with the water colored backgrounds too!  The 1st card uses dies from MFT's Blueprints #27 and Gina Marie Designs, and PTI's Tiny Tags.  The 2nd and 3rd cards are water colored with Peerless Sky Blue, the sentiments from PTI's Choose Joy, and dies from Gina Marie Designs and Lil Inkers. I can't decide which one I like best...what do you think??

There's still a lot of time to play along with this challenge, and some absolutely beautiful inspiration to get you started...you can check it all out right HERE.

Simply Gingham + Daisies

Hello friends.  I've been having a lot of fun this week with a very small stamp set from Altenew called Daisy and a gingham background stamp from SSS.  This little stamp set is only $4.99, and is actually one of their easier stamp sets to line up, so I couldn't just stop at one card  Take a look:

Started with a kraft card base and used a Heidi Swapp background stamp with Baked Brown Sugar ink.  I added a strip of gingham that I stamped with SU!'s newest Peekaboo Peach ink, and then added the Daisies that I also stamped with the Peekaboo Peach ink and Tangelo Twist ink.  I fussy cut them out and also added a few leaves that I stamped in Baked Brown Sugar and Crumb Cake inks.  A little bit of baker's twine and some PPP sequins finished off this card.

The next 2 cards are basically the same...I just used different ribbon on each one.

I stamped my background again using the Heidi Swapp stamp (Crumb Cake ink) and then embossed over it using a new Darice Daisy embossing folder.  I used pinks (Altenew Red Cosmos ink set) for the Daisies (and the gingham strip) and greens (Altenew Green Field ink set) for the leaves.  Added a seam binding ribbon and button (with twine), a birthday sentiment (SU!'s Rose Wonder), and a few sequins to finish.  I also added some shimmer to parts of the daisy that you can see better in this close up:

This last card is basically the same...I just added a pink seam binding ribbon and button, and left off the sentiment as I'm not sure what I'll be using this card for yet.

My dear friend Birgit introduced me to a new challenge this week called Double D Challenge, and they are looking for gingham on your cards, so yeah, my cards definitely work for this!  And if you like gingham, you are definitely going to want to check out this site, as they have some absolutely amazing inspiration from their DT...beautiful, beautiful cards!!!  Their challenge is still open for another week, so make sure you check them out!!

Make It Monday #255 - String Art Using Die-Cuts

Hello friends.  Playing along with Amy and her Make It Monday challenge, where she shows us how to add string art to our cards.  Here's what I came up with:

I used a Tag Sale #3 die to do my stitching on, and then stamped and embossed my tag and card base with the Doodlie-Do set.  I used a couple Copics to color in the embossed doodles on the tag, and then Aqua Mist, Raspberry Fizz, & Lovely Lady inks for the rest of the doodles and dots (Polka Dot Basics).  I added a seam binding ribbon dyed with Aqua Mist re-inker, bakers twine, and a button to the top of the tag and a few PPP sequins to the whole card.  The sentiment is from the Winter Woods set.  Pretty sweet and simple, and I love the little touch of string art!  Fun, fun challenge this week...thanks Amy!!

You can play along and learn how to add string art to your cards by watching Amy's video and checking out her beautiful cards all right HERE.

And one little extra for you today!  Figured since it was using a PTI product, I could get away with adding it to this post, and also since Amy was the one that sold me on this project in the first place!  I've been making some prayer boxes using the Tiny Town: Church dies, and my dear friend Birgit was bummed when I forgot to take pictures of the first one I made for a bible study friend awhile ago, so I made sure to take a picture of this one just for you Birgit!  :0)

You can click on the photo to bring some of the detail in closer, like the scoring that makes the church look like it's made from wood planks, the gold embossed steeple, and the colorful little flowers.  I should have taken the little blank cards to write your prayer requests on out of the box so you could see them too, but forgot...sorry!  I just stamped a little cluster of green leaves and then the colored flowers from the Choose Joy stamp set (same as what's on the top of the tag).  The flowers and grass on the outside of the church are from the Garden Variety set.  These are so much fun to make...a little time consuming, but definitely worth the effort!  This one is going to another friend at bible study who wants to gift it to another friend of hers.

"Ham It Up On Your Birthday"

Hello friends.  Hope you all had a wonderful 4th of July weekend!  Pretty slow here, but we did have beautiful weather and got lots of yard work done!  Not much stamping though!  I do have a card that I made last week for our SIL's birthday though...take a look:

Our son in law has a disease called Eosinophillic Esophagitis (EED)  that in simple terms means his body is allergic to just about every type of food out there!  He can basically eat meat.  No seasonings or coatings on it either...just meat.  No wheat, soy, nuts, dairy, etc.  There are a few fruits and vegetables he can have, but doesn't really care for them.  Let me tell you cooking for him definitely a challenge!  But anyway, one of his favorite meats is bacon.  And since my good friend Birgit shared a few of the new Birdie Brown images from MFT's Hog Heaven, this little piggy made a perfect birthday card for him!  (Thanks Birgit!!)  My background uses a TH Honeycomb stencil and some Smoky Slate ink.  The little piggy is colored with some Copics and then mounted on my sentiment.  The little blue rectangle is die cut from a Gina Marie Designs die...love that wonky little stitching on those dies!  Debated on whether or not to add glitter to the cupcake since that didn't seem very manly, but I went with it anyway and he didn't seem to mind!  (or probably even notice!!)  But anyway, a CAS and quick card, and I was very happy with the way it turned out!  :0)

Tag You're It #50

Hello friends.  Not usually a Saturday post girl, but when you're playing just under the wire, you post on a Saturday!  :0)  Anyway, loved Kelly's tag for the Tag You're It challenge with the strawberries, and just had to find time to play!  Here's Kelly's adorable tag:

And here's mine totally inspired by Kelly's strawberries and the colors she used:

I stuck with the strawberry theme as we just finished one of the best strawberry season's here in Michigan, and plus I haven't played with this stamp set (PTI's Strawberry Patch) since last year!  I did a double tag using PTI's Tag Sale #5 die, cutting one in Real Red cs, and one that I stamped using a SSS gingham background stamp in Gumball Green ink.  Stamped and fussy cut my leaves in the same Gumball Green ink, and then die cut and stamped the 2 strawberries with Real Red cs and ink.  I pop dotted the top strawberry, and then added white dots with a gel pen.  I stamped the little flower in Daffodil Delight ink onto a circle tag from PTI's Tiny Tags set along with the "for you" that is also in that set.  A few sequins and some red & white baker's twine finished off this cute little tag!

You still have a few days to play along, so check out all the fabulous tag's inspired by Kelly and play along right HERE.

Thanks so much for stopping by today and I hope all of you in the U.S. have a wonderful 4th of July weekend!!

Colour Q Challenge #348

Hello friends.  Last week I played for the first time with the ColourQ Challenge and I have to admit that I think I'm hooked!  This is a great challenge to play along with if you feel like you're using the same color combinations all the time, and that has definitely been me!  And this weeks color challenge is fabulous...take a look:

I even had all the exact colors this time too!  (LOVE Cool Caribbean and so wish it would come back!!)  And here's what I came up with:

I used a die from the MFT's Blueprints #27 for the Night of Navy scalloped border, and a PTI Modern Background stencil with Night of Navy ink for the stenciled background.  I fussy cut the flower, leaves, & berries that I stamped from Altenew's Peony Bouquet with the Night of Navy, Cool Caribbean, Certainly Celery, & Only Orange inks.  (I did some stamping off to get some of the two toned looks.)  My sentiment is from PTI's Winter Woods set.  LOVE this color combination and very please with the way this card came out.

Make sure you check out all the beautiful cards from the DT and other players, and then play along!  You can find all the info you need right HERE.
