Hello friends. I'm combining 2 challenges today and playing along with this weeks Make it Monday (with Laura Bassen who is so talented and also just cracks me up!!) and also Kristie who is hosting this weeks Merry Monday. Laura is showing us how to do a "double partial die cut" (I tried Laura, I really did!!) and Kristie is asking us to come up with a Christmas card using the colors lime, turquoise, & white, and here is what I came up with:
My partial die cutting did not work so well, so please don't look too close! I'm wondering if I would have had better luck if I had used a die sh ape with a flatter bottom rather than a circle, but you know how you get an idea in your head and don't want to try anything else? Yup, that was this card! Anyway, I patched it together a bit, and I do like how it looks. I used Tim Holtz Distress Inks (Peacock Feathers, Salty Ocean, & Tumbled Glass) for my background sky, and it looks much more turquoise-y in real life. I used PTI's "O'Tannenbaum" stamp set with Limeade Ice ink for my 3 trees, and then fussy cut them out. The "peace" is from "Wonderful Words: Holiday Die Collection" and the "on earth" is from "Think Big Favorites #21" (both PTI). I finished with some silver Stickles on the trees and a bit of black & white bakers twine.
You can check out Laura's video and card right here and Kristie's Merry Monday challenge right here.
Thanks so much for stopping by and have a wonderful day! (It's going to be sunny and 63 today....woohoo, I think Spring is actually here!!!)

Very pretty card, Marcia! Love how you combined the colors. Thank you so much for playing along with Merry Monday!
Good idea...I had the "merry" and "peace" die cuts going through my head too! I will have to be careful what other die I use!! Love your colors and combining it with the MM!!
Marcia, this is a wonderful card! Love your combination of challenges MIM and MM, they go so well together. I am also pretty stubborn, if I have an idea, I should try it out :) I think you did very well!
I just posted my card, and saw yours! Squeee! Love it! What a great Christmas card!!
I hear you...my ideas were so clear in my head, yet so jagged on the paper! I watched her doing it perfectly on the video numerous times, yet couldn't get my hands and machine to do the same!! BUT...yours LOOKS so gorgeous, I would never know ;)!!
Shhh, don't even mention your die-cutting. Your card looks fabulous. So peaceful looking! Thanks for playing Merry Monday this week!
I think this looks more than just fine, Marcia! Looks like you did a great job to me! Thanks for sharing with us at Merry Monday!
Lovely card, Marcia. The 'peace' is a standout against your gorgeous trees and bright sky. It took 3 times to get close to what I liked, and I still wasn't satisfied. Might need a whole day to play with this technique!
This turned out beautifully Marcia! I love that you didn't give up on your idea - and that word die - love it!!
Great Great job!!!!
Wonderful card, I love your wintery scene. Thank you for joining us for Merry Monday.
this is lovely, like how you have created the scene, Gail x
Marcia, your card is so peaceful and serene. What a fabulous combination combining the trees with the sentiment. The inked sky is such a pretty shade of blue and the silver sparkles are the perfect finishing touch! My first attempt went in the circular file, so I hear what you're saying about ideas in your head and making them come out the way you hope. You pulled this off beautifully!
Pretty trees in your circle die cut! Very pretty.
Love how you've placed the trees in the circular frame and that inking of the sky is simply gorgeous. Great card.
Gorgeous card - and the silver Stickles on the trees is a beautiful touch.
Super pretty card, Marcia! Love those gorgeous trees, design and how you made your card! Perfection! Thanks for playing along with us this week over at Merry Monday! :)
Marcia your card is fabulous! Love the embellies on the trees...
Love your partial die cutting. Must try that
Beautiful and serene Christmas card, Marcia!
What a beautiful and peaceful card, Marcia! I think you rocked the challenge. It was really a push to accomplish this one tonight even though I watched the video the day Laura posted it. Should have given myself a lot more time to attempt this technique.
