Color Hues Challenge #133 - LIME GREEN & VIOLET

Hello friends.  Can you believe it's halfway through May already...where is the time going this year?!!  It's also time for a new challenge here at Color Hues and the lovely Tracey has chosen the pairing of LIME GREEN & VIOLET for us to work with for the next two weeks.

Aren't those such pretty colors to work with?!  I used an older PB set called delicate florals and made 2 VERY simple cards because I couldn't decide which one looked more like violet.  I think the birthday card won, but I'll let you decide...

I stamped the floral image with black and then colored with a sponge dauber and Lovely Lilac ink (Gina K) the rounded flowers. (Not sure what these flowers are, but I sure do like them!!) I used a Copic G14 for the leaves.

I love how Jill Foster (from Penny Black) adds a mask to highlight certain areas on her cards and did that with a rectangle mask and Antique Linen DI to my card before adding my sentiment (PB - special sentiments).  CAS and one layer...YAY!!

Card #2 is the same except for the flower color (maybe more purple than violet?) and sentiment...

I used Wild Wisteria (also Gina K) ink to color in the flowers on this 2nd card and then finished with a sentiment from PB's inspirational sentiments.

So which one do you think looks more violet? Number 1 or number 2?  Here they are both next to each other...

I think #1, but they both turned out pretty, so I'm happy with both!!  The DT has some BEAUTIFUL inspiration for you to get started, so check them all out right HERE and then play along with us.  We can't wait to see what YOU come up with!!  This challenge is open till Friday, May 29th @ 9:00AM.

Thanks for stopping by today ... I love it when you do!

You did a great job with Penny Black and these stamps and colors. I love them both, and I am inspired!

I love them both, my friend! But agree that number 1 might be more violet than its pretty purple neighbor - speaking of... I sure wish I was your neighbor! I'd come borrow this stamp - looks like Button Bush to me and I LOve it!

Both cards are simply gorgeous! I think as you do that #1 is the more violet one.

I think both versions are amazing! I love how simple and delicate they are. I also agree with Michele, wish I was your neighbor, I would borrow this one too!

Marcia I think that both cards are perfect for the challenge. I guess at the end of the day it is any hue of the color! I think that is the prettiest stamp and CAS cards are so elegant! Thank you for making my colors shine! Hugs!

What a pretty design, stamps and layout, Marcia. As for which one is more violet, #1 has my vote too! You should link this beauty up at Seize the Birthday.

Both cards are lovely!! You've so captured Jill's style with these two beautiful cards. The flowers could be gomphrena? No matter what they are, they are so sweet and I adore your sweet cards.

Two very pretty cards Marcia, I don't think that it matters which is more violet than the other, they are both shades of the same and isn't that exactly the point?! The soft stencilled frames really focus your eye in on those pretty blooms. :)

Violet and purple are pretty much twins in my opinion and I think this flower is gorgeous in any color! I love the look of the masked inking. It adds so much depth! Two beautiful cards, my friend!

I love those sweet flowers, Marcia, and agree that #1 looks more violet. The masked rectangle added that something extra that takes your card over the top.

I think it's very hard to distinguish between violet and purple--two slightly different hues, perhaps? However the vote comes out, both card are simply beautiful! I love the stenciled frame--you've done Jill Foster proud!

FYI: "Anonymous" is me.

Stunning cards. I like the first a bit better. I think its that the shadow panel is just a touch more light and really makes those fab blooms stand out.

They're both just lovely! Perhaps the first is more of a violet color, but both are divine. I cannot believe I purged this stamp years ago. It's so hard to keep everything, but I didn't know I was going to become such a Penny Black-a-holic. Hooray for this honest-to-goodness one layer card, too!

Both of these are gorgeous, Marcia. I love the intensity of the violet in the fiest, and the darker shaded rectangle on the second. Also the placement of the sentiment on the first. In any case, they are both beautiful and a great use of the colors.

These flowers are so sweet and both cards look gorgeous, Marcia! I googled the color violet and it's more of a bluish purple (Highland Heather?) versus a purple with more red like the old Rich Razzleberry. I think just use what you have lol! Your take of Jill's design looks wonderful. Love both of these!

Your cards are lovely, Marcia. The flowers are beautiful and I love the overall design with the lightly stenciled/masked rectangle. In my view, both are frame-worthy; they're stunning.
