Color Hues Challenge # 109 - BLUE & YELLOW

Hello friends.  Time for a new challenge here at Color Hues and I am the hostess for the next 2 weeks and have chosen the color pairing of BLUE & YELLOW.

Hard to believe there was a time in my life where I wasn't too thrilled with the color blue, but the past couple years have changed my tune and I just love BLUE paired with YELLOW!  I hope you'll all have fun with this color pairing and remember too that any hue of BLUE or YELLOW works for this challenge.

I used an older PTI set called Prominent Petals and Night of Navy, Boho Blue, Seaside Spray, Mango Melody & Daffodill Delight inks (all SU!) to create this card...

I stamped the outlines of the flowers and leaves in Night of Navy and then filled in with the lighter blues.  There is also a stamp to add dots to the flowers and I used white pigment ink to do that...I love the playful look the dots give!  I left the leaves white and added the yellow dots that are part of this stamp set (the dots have WOS and then a layer of glossy accents over the top of them and foam tape underneath for added dimension.

For my white on white background I used PTI's Bold Borders: Polka Dots Die, which also comes with the "hugs" die which I die cut 3 times from Night of Navy cardstock and adhered towards the bottom.

Because I still had everything laying out, I decided to do a bit bolder card using Night of Navy for the card base and the polka dots die.

When I was looking for a flower stamp to use on this card, I ran across an Altenew/PFS collaboration set called Celebrate Us that I had never used and who knows how long I've had it?!  Back of the package says 2020...I think I might have too many stamps!  But anyway, I used the same SU! inks that I used on my first card for the flower and added it with foam tape to the card base.  The sentiment was embossed in white from PTI's Choose Joy stamp set.

This was a pretty simple card to make and I like how it turned out, but I still like my first card best!  How about you??

The DT and our Special GD Nance all have wonderful inspiration to share with you right HERE, so check it out and play along with us...we'd love to see all of YOU in our gallery!!  This challenge is open till Wednesday, May 14th @ 9:00AM.

Thanks for stopping by today ... I love it when you do!

Well, you know that blue and I have never seemed to get along - but it's growing on me! I love your first card - those white leaves just work beautifully, Marcia! LOve the polka dots and even your spots of 'pollen' - lol!
But WOWZERS, girlfriend - card two just stole the entire show for me! How did I miss this set while browsing your stash?? I guess I better start digging in my own - can't wait to play!

For some reason I wasn't crazy about blue in the past, either, but for quite a long time now I've been rather fond of it. I especially love a blue and yellow combo -- great pick, Marcia! You've used it beautifully on both your cards, one soft, one more intense, both gorgeous! Love the yellow dots on the first. The playful look is wonderful. I think I need that more these days. Hugs to you!

Two beautiful blue and yellow cards Marcia. Love the first card with those sweet, delicate flowers. The dotty background is so adorable. Your second card is dramatic with the deep blue background that really highlights your gorgeous yellow bloom. Great work, my friend! xx

Boy oh boy, you had me with all of the marvelous polka dots! That PTI set is in my stash and continues to give me fits, but I like your blue version... note to self. I have to say I agree with Michele, card number two is a show stopper! Wowee!!!

I love both of your beautiful blue & yellow cards Marcia. This is a great color combo and blue is my favorite color. :) Love the flowers with the dots on the first card. They go great with the Polka Dots die cut background. The 2nd card is striking with that dark blue background and lovely yellow bloom. Have a great weekend my friend.

I'm not a fan of blue either, Marcia, except in jeans. lol I do have a card made for the challenge though. Yours are delightful. The first very whimsical with the polka dot flowers and the second so dramatic with the navy background.

Two fabulous card, Marcia. I guess I am not a huge fan of blue either and my scraps of paper reflect that as it is the smallest amount of all the colors. Not something I realized until I went looking around to get inspired. Well, these two cards are definitely inspiring. The polka dots throughout the design really is nice on card one and love the boldness of card two. Have a great weekend.

Ohmyword, Marcia...you've dazzled us with not one, but TWO lovely cards that really showcase how beautifully yellow and blue pair. I'm smitten with the first; delicate hues of blue accented with the wonderful polka-dots. I'm also taken with the second: bold and eye-catching. I LOVE blue...thank you for choosing this pairing for our challenge, my sweet friend.

Blue and yellow is one of my favorite combinations too, Marcia, so I really had fun with this one. I love the lighter shades with that pretty flower that has a jaunty feel. But then the darker colors are so dramatic! Two very different but equally fantastic cards, my friend!

Two spectacular cards using those fabulous colors, Marcia! I do love the white leaves on the first, and that polka dod doe is just perfect in the background. The bold blue card is marvelous. What a wonderful showcase of the challenge colors! I hope I can play.

Actually hard for me to pick a favorite as I love them both, Marcia! I have the PTI floral set, but it's been sorely neglected. I KNOW I have too many stamps....and dies, etc--haha! I've never used the separate bubble stamp/die, but love what it added to your card! The 2nd one is an eye-catcher with that wonderful dark blue background and beautiful flower! You've inspired me!
