Time Out Challenge #281

Hello friends.  I'm tickled pink to be guest designing with the sweet ladies over at the Time Out Challenge today.  They have a new and FUN idea for this challenge where you need to pick out 2 of the 6 ideas and incorporate them into your card.  You can definitely use more than 2 of the ideas listed if you'd like, but no less than 2.

Lots of great prompts to get the juices flowing here, and I immediately thought of Valentines Day for my card, but you do you and create any type of card you'd like!  I may have gone a little overboard with the prompts and used 5 of them (all but the food prompt!), but they all seemed to fit with my card.  Take a look and you'll see what I mean...

A couple of months ago, I bought PTI's Build-A-Hat die set and have not been able to put it down!  Winter lasts forever here in Michigan, so I thought the warm prompt was perfect for this hat and decorating it with hearts (and stitched hearts at that!!) filled the bill even more perfectly!  There is also stitching on the hat brim, the zig zag and straight line on the hat too!  My background is layered with a panel that I embossed using Sunny Studios Quilted Hearts EF and a piece of Real Red cs (SU!) before attaching to a white card base.  And of course if it's a Valentine card, you have to add the word LOVE somewhere on the card and I used a really old PTI set called Wonderful Words: Love and die cut it 3 times for some dimension and then die cut it a 4th time in the pink (PTI's Lovely Lady cs) so I could add the pink heart for the "O" in the LOVE word.

You can see a bit more of the detail in this close up.  LOTS of hearts, layers, stitching, love, and warmth (from the hat).  I finished by adding some red & white bakers twine at the top and then a few Disco Ball Sequins from Gina K.

A BIG thank you to all the gals over at the Time Out Challenges for choosing my card back in November (you can see the card HERE) as a winner in their COZY challenge!

Make sure you check out all the wonderful inspiration the DT has for you for this current challenge and play along right HERE...there's always a spot for YOU in the gallery!!  As an extra incentive to play along, there's a $25 gift card from Newton's Nook for the winner, and who doesn't LOVE FREE stamps?!!  This challenge is open till Wednesday, Feb. 12th @ 5:00PM

Thanks for stopping by today ... I love it when you do!

Let's Stay Cozy

Hello friends.  Been on a bit of a Penny Black kick lately and have a card to share that fit a couple COZY challenges. Take a look...

She's a cutie, isn't she?! She's from Penny Black's bundled buddies stamp set and I paper pieced her coat and hat from some scraps of dsp (SU!) and Copic colored the rest of her.  After fussy cutting her out, I added her to a background that I blended a light turquoise oval on.  I also added some white acrylic splattering to resemble a light snow and also added a couple trees from PB's tall trees dies.

I also used The Greetey's Postal Frames Dies on this panel and then added my sentiment from Gina K's Stay Cozy collaboration stamp set with SSS.  Finished with a couple Disco Ball sequins from Gina K and my all bundled up little bird feeding girl was complete.

The Double D Warm & Cozy Challenge and Time Out Challenge are both looking for cozy images on our cards and I think this all bundled up little girl fits the bill for both challenges!

Time Out Challenge #259 & Just Us Girls #718

Hello friends.  Today I'm playing along with both the  Time Out Challenge and the Just Us Girls challenge where they are both collaborating with each other and are looking for BIRDS on our cards.

I'm always in need of birthday cards and hadn't played with my Concord & 9th Tweet Life stamp and stencil set in quite awhile, so that's how this card started out.  Take a look...

Aren't they cuties?!  I love how big they are...makes it easy to fill up a card!!  I started by simply stenciling the two birds in pinks & oranges and turquoise blues & greens and then stamped the details in black.

I ran my panel through with an older Cuttlebug dotted ef before adding it to an Audrey Blue panel (SSS) that I die cut using The Greetery's Crimped Rectangle Die and then attached both panels to a white card base.

I finished with a sentiment strip that I embossed in white on black and added a bit of bakers twine to the one end and then popped up on foam tape for a bit of dimension.  I used a white gel pen to add the accents to the party hats and also added tiny coordinating pom poms (SU!) to their hats.  A couple Disco Ball sequins finished off my card.

LOTS of inspiration from both challenges and you can play in these challenges till Wednesday, March 27th.

P.S.  All the origami birds were made by one of my daughters when she was in middle school (she's almost 33 now) and she must have made thousands of them...of course I had to keep a few! :0)

Thanks for stopping by today ... I love it when you do!

Time Out Challenge #207 - CASE-ing Michele

Hello friends.  Today I am playing along with the TIME OUT Challenge where they are asking us to CASE my sweet friend Michele and her card that's inspired by one of her favorite designers (and mine!!) Laura Bassen.

Isn't Michele's card a beauty?!!  I CASE'd the shades of PINK and the HEART that Michele used on her card, and then added a nod to Laura's famous stripes (or stripping as she calls it!) and the black with white embossed sentiment strips she tends to use on her cards for dimension (because dimension is life, right??!!), and came up with this:

I started by cutting different widths of 3 shades of PTI pink cardstock, and then adhering them diagonally across my card base.  Next I die cut my heart using a Gina Marie Designs heart die, and then die cutting the "HUGS" from the center using PTI's Big Hugs die set.  I also die cut another heart in black to put behind the white heart so the "HUGS" would stand out.

I die cut 3 of PFS's Leafy Branch die and placed them under and over my heart and striped background, and then finished with my sentiment strip that I white embossed on a piece of black cardstock (this is a part of PTI's Big Hugs stamp set), and a few heart gems.

This challenge is open till the 23rd, so check out Michele's card and all the DT cards (HERE) from the TIME OUT Challenge, and then play along.

I would also like to take a minute to say a BIG THANK YOU to everyone who sent a card to help me celebrate my birthday yesterday...you all sure know how to make a girl feel loved and special, and I smile each time I walk past our entertainment center that is completely covered in absolutely BEAUTIFUL cards!  Thank you, thank you!!
