CAS Mix Up - Oct. 2018

Hello friends.  I'm playing along with this month's CAS Mix Up challenge AGAIN, because several people have been using the "Black Ice" technique (you can find a how to video HERE) and I was blown away by how BEAUTIFUL these cards were!!

Here's what I came up with using the Black Ice technique and Metal:

It almost looks like a black and white photo of a snowflake doesn't it?  You start with silver mirror cs and lightly swipe a black Stazon pad across the cs.  Once it dried I ran my piece through my Big Shot with an older Darice embossing folder with smaller snowflakes, and then lightly ran my Versamark pad across the top and then then embossed with clear embossing powder.  The shine is FABULOUS!!

I die cut an Alexis Snowflake from SSS and embossed it 3 times with silver to give the metal look and glued it to my Black Ice panel.  I matted this with a piece of white to give the black & white photo look and then backed that with some foam for dimension and adhered to a white card base.  My sentiment is from PTI's Peaceful Pinecones set.

Check out the cards from the rest of the DT and from those already in the gallery and then play along right HERE.  This challenge is open till the 24th.

Thanks for stopping by today ... I love it when you do!

Holy smokes Marcia, this is spectacular! I love the incredible metallic look you've achieved with the technique. The framing in white was the perfect choice too. Beautifully done!

The black ice technique looks fabulous used here with this large star Marcia, and the sentiment stands out perfectly against this panel stamped on to a white strip and mounted over the top. x

Isn't that just the best technique, Marcia? I didn't use mirror cardstock but I'll try it next time if I have any. That large snowflake is spectacular as a metal looking addition to the card.

What a great design using this technique Marcia! I can feel the icy cold radiating off your card! The big embossed silver snowflake just reinforces that feeling! I feel that if I touched the card my finger would stick to the ice!! xx

Simply a stunner. Love all the texture you added to the technique, especially the debossed snowflakes. That snowflake embossed 3x does add to the elegance of your card. Beautiful work.
