Playing Cards with Friends

Hello friends.  A couple of weeks ago I went to sweet Michele's house for a play date, and we had lots of fun playing with MFT stamps, a yummy lunch, and lots and lots of chit chatting and laughter!  Aren't stamping friends just the best?!!

So how about we start with a bit of Fall, since it is fast approaching in my neck of the woods...cooler nights and wonderful daytime temps!

This little cutie is from the Thankful Friend set and I colored her up with my Copics and fussy cut her out before attaching her to a Crimped Frame Die (The Greetery) that I blended a little bit of Salty Ocean DI to.

Not that I'm wishing for snow or anything, but had to color up this sweetie (Warmest Wishes) too, and then added her to a fun die cut background (one of Michele's dies that I LOVE!!) and a couple strips of DSP (Let It Snow - Carta Bella).  The wooden snowflake is a an older SU! embellie.

And who could resist this sweet little girl from the Rain or Shine set?!  Not me!!  I did some Copic coloring on her and the rest (raincoat, boots, and umbrella) were paper pieced with PTI's Bitty Big DSP.  The polka dotted frame is also PTI...Pierced Feature Frames Dies.

And this cutie is already to party with the Sweet Birthday Wishes set.  Copic colored again and quite liberally doused with WOS, and then framed with DSP from MFT's Over The Rainbow 6 x 6 pad.

How about we switch up to a bit of Halloween?  My granddaughter's favorite color is purple, so this sweet little card from the Spooktacular Friends will be going to her next month.

And this fun little mouse (also from Spooktacular Friends) will be going to my grandson.  I embossed the background with a SU! Spider Webb folder and then lightly blended some gray ink over the top.  Next I sprayed a LOT of Sheer Shimmer Sparkle Spray over the web, and it really looks fabulous!!

Are you still with me??!!  My last card is not an MFT one, but Michele had this daisy set (Uniko Gerbera) that I fell in love with, and had to stamp a few in different colors!

I used Catherine Pooler inks on the flower and leaves, and then added another strip of kraft cardstock that I used Michele's cool stitched die on.  The "thank you" is PTI's Penned Elegance.

Can you tell that Michele and I had LOTS of FUN?!!  We not only talked a blue streak, but we actually made quite a few cards too!  Always fun to get together with stamping friends and sharing stamps...thank you SOOOOO much Michele for inviting me over and sharing...I had a blast!

Tag You're It Challenge #95 - BBQ Party

Hello friends.  The Tag You're It Challenge is having a BBQ Party!!

BBQ stamps are something I'm a little short on...in fact I don't own ANY!!  But I do own MFT's adorable chefs from the Recipe For Happiness set, and didn't realize until I finished my tag that I had used the same chef that Marybeth used for her sweet tag!  Oh well, I colored mine a little differently and came up with this:

I figured by stamping multiple spatula's on the back tag it would qualify me for the BBQ theme, as one of my absolute FAVORITE foods is a grilled cheeseburger!

My tags are die cut from MFT's Tag Builder Blueprints #5 and the chef was colored with my Copics and then fussy cut.  A bit of black & white bakers twine finished off my simple tag that will go great with a hostess appreciation gift, don't you think?!!

Christmas Kickstart Challenge #18 - Get A Head-er Start

Hello friends.  Playing along with the current Christmas Kickstart Challenge and they would like us to use their Header for our inspiration...

And here's what I came up with:

I stuck with the same color theme, obviously the snowman, and the aqua and red scarf for my Christmas card.  My snowman stamp is one of my ALL TIME FAVORITES and is called Blake (Rubbernecker Stamps).  I thought about coloring him all up and adding a bunch of glitter, but decided in the end to keep him plain so I could make the scarf pop.  Here's a closer up so you can see the sparkle on the scarf:

I used Concord & 9th's Woven Plaid Background Stamp in Aqua Mist ink for my background, and then added a partial cross stitched die cut circle (Gina Marie Designs) that I stamped a few clusters of tiny snowflakes onto for a little added interest.  I matted my plaid layer to a red layer, and both of those to a white card base.  I pop dotted Blake's one hand and his sign for a little added dimension and then finished off with a few clear sequins.  The "Joy To The World" sentiment is from PTI's Christmas Blessings stamp set.

CAS Watercolour Challenge - Complementary Colors

Hello friends.  It's time for a new challenge at CAS Watercolour and Jenny is hosting this month and she would like us to use COMPLEMENTARY COLORS.

And in case you're not familiar with complementary colors, here's a color wheel to help you out:

Because Fall is fast approaching, I decided to choose ORANGE and BLUE for my complementary colors and came up with 2 cards...

This is actually my 2nd card, but I liked it better than my 1st card, so I'm showing you this one first.  I had started with a piece of heavy white cardstock and sprinkled Cobalt Blue and Orange Brushos and then misted with water.  I don't know why I've never tried orange and blue together before, but I kinda like it!  Anyway, after my panel had dried, I used a set of 3 small leaf dies (AE) and then adhered to another stitched die cut rectangle in a diamond pattern.  I added this to a white card base and then added my sentiment from PTI's Keep It Simple: Thinking Of You stamp set in Night of Navy ink.  Here's a closer up:

CAS and I have to admit I really like the simplicity of it!

Here's the 1st card I made which I don't dislike...I just liked the 2nd one better!

This card uses an AE die that Loll had gifted me several years ago and I hadn't used in quite awhile, so figured it was time to show it some love!  This is really another pretty simple card too, where I just added a piece of the orange and blue Brusho cardstock behind the die cut trees, added a small frame around it, and then matted it a little higher on my card base so I could add a few scored lines towards the bottom.  I left the sentiment off as the card is already a little busy between the tree branches and all the Brusho color...I'll add a sentiment when I decide which occasion to use the card for.

12 Kits Of Occasions - End Of Summer Soiree

Hello friends.  It's the last day of the month and that means it' time for another 12 Kits Of Occasions post!  Michelle is our hostess this month and doesn't want to say goodbye to SUMMER, so she made up this delightful kit called End Of Summer Soiree in reds and blues to celebrate all the birthdays and holidays that come at the end of August.  

So many BEAUTIFUL papers and die cuts and flowers in lovely shades of reds and blues and gold accents in this months kit...I thought I was running out of time to even get started on this months kit, but these supplies practically produced my cards all by themselves in just a few hours!  For a list of all the supplies Michelle included in her kit, check HERE.

The only thing I added for this card was my sentiment (PTI's Keep It Simple: Thing Of You) and a thin strip of gold mirror cardstock.  Michelle had the 4 layer tag all assembled and I just fussy cut the rose from the background DSP Michelle included in this kit.  

Michelle had all the pieces for this lovely cake already stamped and die cut, so it was just a matter of assembling with the embossed piece and a strip of DSP.  Again, all I added was the strip of gold mirror cardstock and some gold thread across the top.

Another easy peasy card to put together...Michelle did all the work and I just glued it all down!  :0)

This card comes across rather plain jane, but IRL it's all shimmery and sparkly!  I used a Copic marker to color in the stripes on "BOY" and then used my WOS brush over it along with all the windows and details of the plane and helicopter.  I'll be setting this card aside for my grandson's 3rd birthday next year as he LOVES airplanes!

All of the cards came together so easily this month, but this card was probably the easiest!  The flowered panel already had the gold sentiment on it, and I just matted it to a red layer and a white card base, and then added a simple red banner tag with a gold heart and a piece of the blue and white twine Michelle included in the kit.

And last but not least, a sweet little birthday tag where all I added was the die cut tag from PTI's Quilted: Winter set and then fussy cut the images that Michelle had already stamped.  I think this would look so cute on a kraft or white gift bag!!

CAS Christmas August 2019 - GLITTER

Hello friends.  This months challenge over at CAS Christmas is to use GLITTER!!

I have LOTS of glitter...no problem!!  :0)  And I loosely followed a technique that Colleen showed with her card and came up with this:

I started by using a Poppystamps ornament die cut and blending Sweet Blush, Autumn Rose, & Scarlett Jewel inks in an ombre pattern and then spread VIVA Glitter Paste over it.  LOTS of sparkle!!  Once it was dry, I added the frame around it and the little cap piece (is there a name for that piece???) that I die cut from silver glitter paper, and then added it to the panel that I had very lightly blended some Sweet Blush ink to before stamping the pine bough from SU!'s Ornamental Pine stamp set in the upper corner of the panel.

To finish I added a piece of silver thread through the ornament cap piece and taped it to the back of the panel and then adhered that to a white card base.  My sentiment comes from Penny Black's Yuletide Wishes stamp set.

Christmas Kickstart #17 - Dachsund Through The Snow

Hello friends.  Playing along with the current challenge over at Christmas Kickstart where the theme is DACHSUND THROUGH THE SNOW.

I had an ADORABLE die cut Dachsund (Marianne's Designs) left from my sweet friend Birgit that was the start of my card...

Isn't he just the sweetest all dressed up in his Christmas hat and scarf?!  I did a little bit of sponging around my little guy with Walnut Stain Distress Ink and then added him to a die cut circle (Lil Inkers) that I sponged some snow drifts onto using Weathered Wood Distress Ink and a torn piece of cardstock.  Here's a closer up where you can see the background of the circle a little bit better...

My card base is a 5" x 5" and I layered it with a piece of Real Red cardstock and a piece of plaid DSP from Echo Park's I Love Winter 6 x 6 pad.  After attaching the circle with my pup, I embossed my sentiment from PTI's In The Meadow in white on a strip of Real Red cardstock and added it to my card with a strip of foam tape.  I finished with a little bit of glitter to the hat and a piece of jute twine.  Very simple but I really think it turned out cute!
