Twofer Challenge #21 - SWEETS

Hello friends.  Playing along with this month's Twofer Challenge where Darnell and her talented DT are looking for cards using the prompt SWEETS.

I had a brand new stamp set from Simon Says Stamp/The Kitchen Sink Stamps (a Stamptember collaboration...Gingerbread Hugs) that I had bought because the gingerbread men were so realistic looking, but once I received it, I fell in LOVE with the Peppermint candies in the set!  They are SO realistic looking too and I thought they'd be perfect for this challenge!

I realize they are VERY similar looking as far as the same colors, but hey, one's a Christmas card and one's for a December birthday!

For my Christmas card I stamped a few of the peppermints in red and a few in green and then fussy cut them out.  I added them to a Lawn Fawn shaker jar die cut (It coordinates with the How You Bean set also from Lawn Fawn) along with a white sequin mix and attached to the upper half of my card, and then stamped the sentiment (from the Gingerbread Hugs set) in the same red and green inks as the peppermint candies.  Simple but fun and bright!

A close up so you can see some of the shaker bits better.

For my birthday card I stamped a background of the peppermint candies and then added my sentiment strip...I stamped the Peppermint Kisses in two colors of red for an ombre effect, and then added the "and birthday wishes" from an older Mama Elephant stamp set in the green.  I added a strip of red glitter paper and a thin strip of green cs above the sentiment strip to provide some balance on the card and then finished with a single fussy cut peppermint candy that I pop dotted.  I liked this simple card so much that I made a 2nd one since I have 2 friends with Dec. birthdays and I think this card will be perfect for both of them!

Make sure to check out all the FABULOUS inspiration from Darnell and her DT and then play along right HERE.  This challenge is open till the 24th.

Thanks for stopping by today ... I love it when you do!

Marcia, your peppermints are darling and very realistic looking. While you have the same colors you have two different designs and occasions. The jar of sweets is perfect for Christmas card and your birthday card couldn't be sweeter. Love the sentiment and the fun sprinkling of mints all over the card front. Thanks for joining in at Twofer Card Challenge #21.

They may be the same color, Marcia, but the design layout is totally different. Whether in a jar or spilling across the card front, those candies look scrumptious.

LOVE these, Marcia. I've got a granddaughter who loves peppermint candies and I've kept a supply in the house where she knows to find them since she was little. Though she's now 21, I still keep them just for her! Naturally I love these cards! The sweets jar filled with candies is a wonderful idea, and one I may borrow for Lizzy's Christmas gift! And your December birthday card is darling and delightful! I'm certain your friends are going to love this! Perfect colors and great designs, too. Hope all is well with you. Thanks so much for joining us at the Twofer Challenge! Sending hugs. Bev

WOW, I'm going to have to get that set! You are right, Marcia, those are the most realistic-looking peppermint images I've ever seen! I'm sure everyone is saying this, but, honestly, I just want to pluck them out of the sweet candy jar on your pretty Christmas card and hold a bucket under your birthday card design so the candies can just tumble on down to me!! Thank you so much for playing in Twofer Card Challenge #21! Hugs, Darnell

Those peppermints are VERY real looking and I love both cards! Clever and cute in a shaker for Christmas, and all raining down as peppermint kisses for a birthday. I love those big sentiments. Your cards may be similar in color, but entirely different in design. I have friends with December birthdays, too, and I think your Bday card is perfect! Thanks so much for playing along with us at Twofer!!

Those peppermint candies look so real! I love how differently you used them on your cards. They are adorable in the shaker jar and I love the green twine around the rim! They make a great background as well, and a sweet way to say Happy Birthday! I'm wishing I could visit you more, but we're moving my mom in with us and it's a long drawn out process! Thanks for joining in the fun with us at the Twofer Card Challenge!

I can taste the minty-ness from here, Marcia ... what a cute twofer! Fabulous idea to have a shaker sweetie jar with those peppermint candies ... so festive and fun! Love how there's a single sweetie highlighting the sentiment on your birthday card ... seems as though that can be picked and eaten and the remaining ones will cascade down to fill the spot! Thanks so much for playing along with us at Twofer! Hugs, Anita :)
