I think the 1st Day of Christmas (A Partridge in a Pear Tree) is one of the most remembered lines from this classic Christmas song for most of us, and that's the direction that I went in for my card using Gina K's Fruit of the Season stamp set.
I started by stenciling my background using Catherine Pooler's Marching Leaves Stencil in a light green...this stencil matched the leaves pearfectly (sorry, couldn't resist!) to the leaves on the pear image.
My pear and partridge images were stamped in versafine black onyx ink and then clear embossed and die cut. They were both colored with my Polychromos pencils and Gamsol. I'm glad the pears are colorful, because when I went to Pinterest to check out what colors Partridges actually were, well, they're not the most colorful birds! Luckily the yellows and greens add a pop of color to this card, and the sentiment (also from Gina's Fruit of the Season) finishes off my card beautifully!
